We are looking forward to resuming our monthly membership meetings in October. Our in-person meetings are open to all, but we encourage you to become a member. Please be sure to mark your calendars and plan to hear from the DCCA Board, featured speakers, including Gerard Brown from the DC Health Department who will talk about the rat problems in Dupont. Importantly, we will also have a chance to enjoy some refreshments and meet and mingle with neighbors!

Celebration of Canopy Completion

Earlier this month, construction on the Dupont Circle Metro Station North Entrance Canopy was completed. To celebrate, Dupont BID partnered with Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro) to host a ribbon cutting event.

The first 100 metro riders to enter or exit the north entrance on September 19th at 11 a.m. will receive a $5 gift card for a coffee at Firehook Bakery. 
DC Councilmember Email Addresses are Changing

The DC Councilmember and staff emails have changed from the domain .us to .gov as of September 6th. The old email addresses will forward for a while, but it would be a good idea to update your contacts to the new domain name soon.
DC Zoning Commission Racial Equity Roundtable

Art All Night will be held on Saturday, September 24th from 7:00-12:00 midnight. This year, the event is back in art galleries and embassies for a new line up of fine artists.

These outdoor events bring people of all ages together to enjoy good company and great films. So bring your blankets, picnic baskets, favorite beverages, and your favorite people for this memorable movie night event. All the movies will have open captions.

DCCA congratulates the Smithsonian Zoo for its new chicks, children of the almost extinct Blue-Billed Curassow. Its a great day for a zoo visit!
Spooky Action Theatre Kicks Off Season

Spooky Action Theater's 2022-2023 season begins with Maple and Vine by Jordan Harrison (Pulitzer Prize finalist for Marjorie Prime, writer/producer on Orange is the New Black), directed by Stevie Zimmerman.

Performances begin September 29 & 30 with Pay-What-You-Can previews and run until October 23, 2022.

Guided Art Meditation

Each Wednesday, The Phillips Collection offers a free, 30-minute weekly meditation led by local yoga teacher Aparna Sadananda via Zoom.

Inspired by calming artwork from the permanent collection, the session practice techniques for mindful looking and thinking that we can carry with us wherever we are. No prior experience needed.

This free program requires registration. You will receive the invitation to the Zoom meeting in an email after you register.

JFK Immersive Permanent Exhibit Opens on Saturday

A new *immersive* permanent exhibit on President John F. Kennedy, his connection to the arts, and the national cultural center that would bear his name opens on Saturday at the Kennedy Center.

The roof-level Atrium will reopen as the JFK Gallery, The exhibit will explore Kennedy’s appreciation and promotion of the arts and why the Kennedy Center came to be the living memorial to him and his ideals.

The opening is Saturday, September 17th at 12 noon in the States Gallery
