Help Write Policies and Actions!

This fall the River Road - Santa Clara Neighborhood Plan is moving from high level visions to specific goals, policies and actions. The vision statements for each of the topic areas have been revised based on the feedback you provided over the summer. The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) has drafted a set of goals based on these vision statements. The vision statements and goals are available for you to review on the topic areas page of our website.
The draft goals were presented to the working groups in August. Working group members are now writing policies and identifying actions to support these goals, as well as editing and adding any additional goals that should be included in the plan. You are invited to join us at the working group meeting on September 27th as we move further into the policy writing phase.
What will working group members do at the next meeting?

At the September working group meeting, working group members will come together to compare and refine the draft policies and actions that they have written, and to identify any gaps. Technical Advisory Committee members will be at the meeting to serve as resources to the working groups.

Working group members will also edit the draft goals and make suggestions for goals that need to be added to the plan. A major outcome of this meeting will be a final draft set of goals that we will bring back to the whole community in December.

This meeting will involve lots of reviewing, rewriting, and creative problem-solving, so bring your best ideas and help write the goals, policies and action plan that will guide decision making in your neighborhood!

I'm not signed up to work on a goal, what do I do?

All the goals are listed on the Topic Areas page of our website. There you can also find the worksheets that working group members are using to write the draft policies. If there are specific goals that you would like to work on, please email us so we can connect you with the Community Advisory Committee member in charge of that goal.

Even if you have not worked on a goal, you are welcome to come on September 27th to provide your feedback on the goals and the draft policies that your fellow working group members have written.
