Big crowd helps kick off Far Northeast Area Plan

More than 130 residents, business owners and stakeholders gathered on the Evie Garrett Dennis E-12 Campus on Thursday, June 22, to mark the public kickoff of the Far Northeast Area Plan and to begin to share their thoughts and ideas for Montbello, Gateway-Green Valley Ranch and parts of Denver International Airport.


Council Members Stacie Gilmore and Chris Herndon welcomed attendees and city planners outlined the planning process before attendees broke out into small group for a mapping exercise to identify area strengths, challenges and opportunities. 


If you didn't get a chance to attend the meeting or want to provide additional input, an online version of the mapping exercise will be available on the plan webpage soon.

Más de 130 residentes, empresarios e interesados se reunieron en el Campus Evie Garrett Dennis E-12 el jueves 22 de junio para marcar el inicio público del Plan de Área del Lejano Noreste (Far Northeast) y comenzar a compartir sus pensamientos e ideas para Montbello, Gateway- Green Valley Ranch y partes del Aeropuerto Internacional de Denver.

Miembros del Consejo Municipal Stacie Gilmore y Chris Herndon dieron la bienvenida y planificadores de la ciudad describieron el proceso de planificación antes de que los participantes se reunieran en grupos pequeños para realizar un ejercicio geográfico para identificar fortalezas, desafíos y oportunidades.

What's next?

Over the summer, city planners will be working with the steering committee to take the public feedback from the kickoff meeting and use it to create a draft vision. The next public meeting will take place in September and will give the public an opportunity to review and refine the draft vision. Meeting details will be posted soon.

About the Neighborhood Planning Initiative

Denver's Neighborhood Planning Initiative is a new long-term commitment to ensure every corner of the city can enjoy the benefits of an area plan. Over the next 10 to 14 years, residents, neighborhood groups, and community leaders will work alongside the city's neighborhood planning team to create a vision and plan for their specific area.
