Why Is The Village Hall Phone Ringing?
When is 2nd installment of Property Taxes due? For those residents who elected to pay their property taxes under the installment plan, please be advised that the due date for the second installment is March 31, 2022.

When are absentee ballots mailed for the April 5, 2022 election? Absentee ballots will be mailed the week of March 14, 2022. Absentee ballots may be returned via USPS or at the Village Hall front desk during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday). Absentee ballots must be received by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Absentee ballots may not be returned via the Village Hall vestibule drop box. Check out the Election FAQ below for more information.

What is the status of the alley street light petition process? The Village Board voted to establish a homeowner petition process to add alley street lighting on Village alleys that are currently unlit. If you are interested in requesting alley lighting please complete the petition form found here. Once the petition is approved by Village Staff, the Village will work with WE Energies to install alley lighting. Monthly power costs and one time capital
installation costs would be incurred by the Village.

April 5, 2022 Election FAQ:
The April 5, 2022 election is one month away. Please see the below list of frequently asked questions and answers. If you have a question that is not listed below, please don't hesitate to give us a call at: (414) 962-6690.

NEW for the April 5, 2022 Election:
  • Per a recent appeals court decision, absentee ballots may not be returned via the Village Hall vestibule drop box.
  • Per a recent circuit court decision, voters may only drop off or mail their own absentee ballot. Voters may not return absentee ballots of other household members or family members.

Offices up for primary election on April 5: Whitefish Bay Village Trustee (2 seats), Whitefish Bay School Board (2 seats), Milwaukee County Supervisor District 1, Circuit Court Judge (branches 5, 14, 25, 31, 34, 44, 45). A sample ballot will be available 21 days prior the election.

How do I register to vote for the April 5, 2022 election?
  • Registration can be completed at Village Hall during regular business hours until April 1, 2022. You may also register on election day. Proof of residency is required.
  • There is no voter registration on the Monday prior to the election.
  • Note: You must have resided at the address you provide on your Registration Form for at least 28 consecutive days prior to an election in order to vote in Whitefish Bay.  

How do I request an absentee ballot? 
  • Absentee ballots can be requested in one of the following ways:
  • Online at: https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/
  • Send a request via email to elections@wfbvillage.org
  • Submit an Absentee Ballot Application by mail. Application is available online at: https://www.wfbvillage.org/DocumentCenter/View/1338/
  • Absentee ballot applications may only be submitted in-person during in-person absentee voting hours (per state code) 
  • Voters who have not previously submitted a copy of their photo ID to vote by mail will need to include a copy of their ID with their request. If you are not sure whether you need to do so, please include a copy to avoid any delay in processing.
  • The deadline to request a ballot by mail is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2022. However, please request ASAP to ensure timely delivery.

How do I return my ballot?
  • Absentee ballots may be returned via USPS or at the Village Hall front desk during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday).
  • Absentee ballots MUST be received by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
  • After 4:30 p.m. on Election Day absentee ballots should be brought directly to your polling place.

When is in-person absentee voting?
  • In-person absentee voting will occur on weekdays from Tuesday, March 22, 2022, to Friday, April 1, 2022, during regular business hours (until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022).
  • The Village will be utilizing Express Vote machines during in-person absentee voting.
  • No appointment necessary; please bring a photo ID.
  • There is no absentee voting on the Monday prior to the election.

Village Receives ACFR Award:

For the third time, the Village of Whitefish Bay received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

Whitefish Bay Finance Director Jaimie Krueger stated that "It is an honor to complete the ACFR for the Village on an annual basis. It is our belief that the ACFR enhances resident understanding of Whitefish Bay's finances and demonstrates our belief that sharing financial information is the best way to achieve transparency. We are thrilled to have earned this award for a third consecutive year.”

Only 60 municipalities statewide received the award putting Whitefish Bay among the top six percent of its peers for excellence in financial reporting. Click here to view the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
Summer Seasonal Job Openings:

Summer Seasonal Job Opening: The Village is looking to fill four (4) seasonal laborer positions within the Department of Public Works. The positions may be responsible for waste/brush/refuse/recycling collection, flower bed planting/weeding/watering, shrub bed hedging/weeding & mulching, and other general tasks.

The positions begin in May and end in late August. Forty hours per week is expected but not guaranteed. Pay is $14.00 per hour depending on experience. Working hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Coffee with a Cop/Neighborhood Watch:

The next Whitefish Bay Police Department Coffee with a Cop is March 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Whitefish Bay Police Station (5300 N. Marlborough Drive). Stop in anytime from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to take a tour of the Police Station, enjoy coffee, and have conversations with officers.

In addition, the Police Department will be hosting a Neighborhood Watch and Crime Prevention presentation at 7:00 p.m. Contact Lt. Straub at e.straub@wfbvillage.org with questions.
Police Department Promotions:

Last week, Liz Straub was promoted to Lieutenant and Jordan Murphy was promoted to Sergeant. The Village greatly appreciates their dedication and service to the community. Congratulations to Lt. Straub and Sgt. Murphy!
Prescription Drug Take Back Day:

The next National Rx Take Back Day will be April 30, 2022. This event is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs at locations in communities throughout the country. The event will be at Whitefish Bay Village Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on April 30, 2022.

Hospice 101 - Thursday, March 10, 2:00 p.m.: This program will be held in person in our upstairs program room. Hospice 101 – will be an open discussion of qualifications for Hospice services including:
  • What is the goal of hospice?
  • Misconceptions often associated with hospice and end of life care
Our speaker is a qualified hospice nurse who has treated numerous patients, and has a knowledge of medications and the end of life process. The presenter of this program is from Compassus. Compassus provides a continuum of home-based services including home health, palliative, and hospice care. Please register.

Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast with the Bunny:

Come celebrate Spring at the North Shore Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast with the Bunny on Saturday, April 2, 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. The event will take place at Dominican High School, 120 E. Silver Spring Drive, Whitefish Bay.

Enjoy taking photos with the Bunny, raffles, and a delicious breakfast featuring pancakes, sausage, juice, milk & coffee. Tickets are available at the door, from Kiwanis members, or at Winkie’s Variety Store - just $8 per adult (10 & up) and $5 per child (over 2 years of age). Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. All proceeds will benefit Kiwanis youth charities.

NSHD Healthy Highlight: March is Nutrition Awareness Month.
 
Good nutrition is year-round, however, with spring on the horizon, now is a great time to review nutrition basics to make informed food choices and develop healthy eating and physical activity habits. Making small changes increases your likelihood of keeping up with eating healthier.

  4. Drink plenty of water
  5. Watch portion sizes
  6. Familiarize yourself with nutrition labels
  7. Explore new foods and flavors and try one new recipe from another culture a week
  8. Fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables
  9. Prevent fruits and vegetable boredom by exploring new ways to cook or serve them.
  10. Reduce food waste by planning meals with what you have on hand
