Neighbors Needing Allies

Father Casey

Given the volume of hard-to-fathom news these days, you may have missed the announcement this past week that all citizens will now be required to travel with passports that match their sex assigned at birth. Figs with Kids Pie Making

Figs with Kids invites you to join in the festivities of making pies for our friends at Austin Street on Saturday, November 22 at 9:00am in Roper Hall. These pies will be served at the annual Austin Street Thanksgiving Dinner. If you don't wish to make pies you can support us with a donation.

Whether you sign-up to Participate or Donate, you will be able to make an additional donation, as well.

Debut of Sugarcane

for Native American Heritage Month

Join us Saturday, November 22 at 6:30pm in Roper Hall for a potluck meal and screening of SUGARCANE, the award-winning debut feature documentary from Julian Brave NoiseCat and Emily Kassie. This is a groundbreaking investigation into an Indian residential school, shedding light on years of forced separation, assimilation and abuse that Indigenous children experienced at the hands of Church and government. This urgent and timely film brings the hidden story of cultural genocide to audiences worldwide while celebrating the resilience of Native people as they work to overcome cycles of intergenerational trauma. Bring a dish to share and be a part of this outstanding moment.

Kirking of the Tartans

Break out the kilts for our annual Kirking of the Tartans on Sunday, November 23 at the 11:15am Eucharist and join us at a reception in the Parlor will follow the service. This is a special event each year as we remember the Scottish Episcopal Church's special relationship to The Episcopal Church.

Advent with the Prophets

Formation for Advent

This Sunday

10:15am–11:00am in Roper Hall

The Prophets are messengers of Advent. Throughout history, the prophets helped the people of God hold onto hope and look for salvation: they spoke of a messiah who would bring release to captives, justice to the oppressed, and light to all trapped in darkness. Join us for a series of discussions between our clergy and special guests as we delve into the rich tradition of the prophets to hear again their hope for our weak and weary world.

This series will take place

November 16 – 30 &

December 7 – 21

Reading the Gospel of Matthew

Each year we enter the season of Advent by reading the Gospel appointed in the Lectionary for the coming year. Year A of the Lectionary focuses our attention on the Gospel of Matthew and there is no better way to open our eyes and hearts to the depth of Matthew's Gospel than to read it in a single sitting. Join us as we do exactly that on Saturday, December 6 beginning at 1:00pm. We need members of our conjuration to join us as readers for this event so select a chapter to read aloud by clicking the button below. If you don't wish to read, you may also join us on the Labyrinth or online to hear the reading.
