Celebrating Ramadan with neighbours
The Vista Hills community recently celebrated Ramadan in their neighbourhood. Attendees enjoyed food, friends and fun! Thanks to all the volunteers and organizers that made this event possible.

Apply for the Neighbourhood Matching Fund by June 1
Have an idea to build neighbourhood connections or celebrate your block? Apply for up to $7,500 in funds towards neighbourhood projects. The next Neighbourhood Matching Fund deadline is June 1 before 2 p.m. Any two or more neighbours can submit an application.

Fairy doors brighten Mary Allen neighbourhood
Neighbours and fairies are invited to enjoy great things in Mary Allen neighbourhood! Creative and colourful fairy doors popped up around the community last spring and project organizer, Meaghan, said the idea saw a lot of interest amongst neighbours. 48 doors can be spotted throughout the neighbourhood.

The City of Waterloo wants to recognize people who do something great, big or small, in their neighbourhood. Nominations will be accepted year-round and every nominee will receive a thank you package.

How can you get involved?

  • Submit a quick and easy nomination to describe your kind neighbour’s contributions
  • Help spread the word about this new program
  • Be a caring and kind neighbour!

Ekram is very caring and lovely person. She is willing to help all people around her. She is very generous and helpful. She thinks about all the community around her. She gives back to the community by being a volunteer as much as she can.

The Chalk Challenge is happening this week!
Thank you to everyone that has participated in the neighbourhood Chalk Challenge so far. There's still time left until May 15 to participate! Share your chalk creations on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and hashtag #ChalkChallenge2022 or enter by emailing a photo to [email protected]. All submissions will be entered into a random draw for a chance to win a $50 gift card to a Waterloo business of your choice (conditions apply). One entry per submission.

Symbols carved in stone - Mount Hope Cemetery Walking Tour
Have you ever been in a cemetery and seen a unique grave stone or design that caught your eye? We have been noticing some interesting ones in Mount Hope Cemetery which got us thinking - what does that even mean? If you also want to know what has inspired some of the images, designs and gravestones of Waterloo’s past residents, then book your spot on the tour today!

Saturday, May 28 at 2 p.m. and Thursday, September 1 at 7 p.m.

Let's go on an egg hunt!
With the help of a mini-grant, Conservation Meadows neighbours planned an eggs-cellent egg hunt for their community. Neighbours had a great time collecting treats and connecting with each other.
