Native Plant Sales

Going Native Gardens has a native plant sale April 18th!

You can preorder plants as part of a presale by calling us (910-343-6001) or stopping in today through Friday, then pick up your order on Saturday.

You can stop in on Saturday from 10-1:30 to purchase plants at their popup table -- or you can do both and maximize your native plant purchase power!

Species Highlight:

Carolina Wren

If you spend any time outside in the eastern U.S. during summer, chances are you've heard a Carolina Wren without even knowing it — these little birds are loud for their size!

They can be tricky to spot since they tend to stay hidden, but if you follow that famous "teakettle-teakettle!" call through your backyard or a nearby patch of woods, you might just get a look at one.

They're pretty striking up close, with warm reddish-brown feathers, a pale stripe above the eye, and a little tail that's almost always tilted upward. One cool thing to know: these birds have been pushing their winters farther and farther north over the years, so more people are getting to enjoy them year-round.

Keeping a brush pile in your yard is a great way of encouraging wrens to take up residence. Consider putting up a nest box to attract a breeding pair. Stop by Wild Bird & Garden to pick up suet, seed, nesting boxes, or houses for these beautiful Wrens to visit you.
