NYS Mandated Sexual Harassment Training Course w/ Linda Bryan

With everything the last few months have brought, many employers may not have been focused on the need for this required training to be completed annually. The Tompkins Chamber has partnered with Linda Bryan to offer this important training twice between now and October 9th, which is the deadline to comply.

SBA Updates to PPP
The Small Business Administration & Treasury have recently released additional guidance on PPP loans, as well as reports regarding the impact of the program.

Chambers of Commerce, DMOs, and Trade Associations Need Your Support so we Have Access to PPP

Help us advocate that Chambers, Destination Marketing Organizations, and other Trade Associations should have the same access to the Paycheck Protection Program as all other nonprofit organizations. Proposals have been created many times in both the House and Senate - but ensuring a workable fix to this SBA program is critical as Congress negotiates the final details of their Phase 4 relief package.
Ithaca Anchor Storefront Loan Fund Announced

A new COVID-19 recovery loan fund has launched for anchor storefronts in the City of Ithaca. The fund will provide low-cost economic development loans of between $8,000 and $50,000 to key commercial storefront businesses in the City, including restaurants and retail businesses.

On-the-Job Training Grant

The Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a new iteration of its On-the-Job Training Grant through a United States Department of Labor funding award to the Healthy Workforce Network - a local network of organizations collaborating to support people in recovery and their employers.

This funding award differs from past OJT grant programs in that it is intended to support people in recovery receiving educational and training supports, new job opportunities, and maintaining a recovery friendly workforce and employer base in Tompkins County. All employers interested in being considered for this program must take our survey and be willing to comply with additional program requirements. Click to learn more!

Cayuga Health Launches New Coronavirus Community Tracking Tool

Cayuga Health has launched a Coronavirus Tracking Tool on the Cayuga Health System website that includes statistical data which is updated daily providing official numbers as they are released by the Cayuga Health Sampling Center in Ithaca, NY. Officials will also periodically update demographic numbers as significant changes occur. 
Tracking includes regional COVID-19 tests taken at the CH Mass Sampling Center, cases, hospitalizations, deaths, age and gender, along with Cayuga Health hospital capacity, supplies, and future planning as it pertains to COVID-19 and the greater surrounding communities. The Sampling Center data includes results from the following counties: Broome, Cayuga, Cortland, Chemung, Onondaga, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga [NY], Tompkins and Yates. 
“We are very pleased to be able to present this useful data to our local communities in order for our entire community to be able to monitor the ongoing evolution of this pandemic,” states Dr. Martin Stallone, President & CEO of Cayuga Health. 
Longview Announces Retirement of Mark Macera

It is with the greatest appreciation for his 30 years of service that the Longview Board of Directors announces the retirement of its executive director, Mark A. Macera. Macera will continue to serve as Longview’s head administrator while a national search is conducted and until a new chief executive officer is in place.

“Under Mark's extraordinary leadership, Longview, an Ithacare Community, has remained financially sound while adding exciting new living options, intergenerational programs, and services – always maintaining the highest commitment to the care and well-being of its residents, said John A. Krout, president, Longview Board of Directors.

As Macera will soon plan the next chapter in his life, he states “It has been my pleasure and privilege to work for Longview and to serve the Longview community.” A recognition of his outstanding and dedicated leadership will be announced at a later date.

“While it is hard to imagine Longview without Mark at the helm, we are confident in a smooth transition to new leadership,” said Krout. The national search to identify Macera’s successor is being conducted by the Deffet Group, Inc. Inquiries regarding this opportunity should be directed to

Watch Town Hall for Businesses on Cornell Reactivation & Student Return
On Tuesday, August 11th, Cornell University representatives joined the Tompkins Chamber & Downtown Ithaca Alliance leadership for a Town Hall with Q & A about their campus reopening. The Town Hall covered reopening plans, ways that businesses can connect with students and staff/faculty, and how we can all work together as a community to stay safe.
