We have extended the date for accessing your NetClient portals to July 31, 2024. Many of you may have never upgraded your Thomson Reuters sign-in with multi-factor authentication (per our November 2023 newsletter) or are having issues logging in.

For returns completed and e-filed this year, you will find your copies on SafeSend (using the emailed access code). Remember, it is our responsibility to provide you with your tax returns when they are completed and filed, and it is your responsibility to save them to your computer at that time! We normally charge $25 for additional copies of returns that we have already provided, and we retain tax returns for 7 years. You may want to retain your returns indefinitely, or at least until you start drawing social security.

If you have not saved your prior year returns, you have until the end of July to log in to your NetClient portal, retrieve your documents, and save them to your computer.

IRMAA, or Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount, is an additional charge added to Medicare Part B and Part D premiums if your income exceeds certain thresholds. Using your Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) from the previous 2 years, the Social Security Administration determines if IRMAA applies to you in the current year.

IRMAA can significantly increase healthcare costs for individuals with incomes above $103,000 and above $206,000 for joint filers for 2024 . An important consideration is the impact of selling a home, since your MAGI may increase with capital gains and result in higher premiums.
