Happy 30th Anniversary NetPals!

We are so excited to be starting up our NetPals program this month! The program has evolved during the 30 years it has been running in partnership with Cambridge Public Schools and local STEM companies. The program’s goal is to spark interest in STEM careers among 7th-grade students. We recruit volunteers from our longstanding partner companies to provide a sustainable way for scholars and NetPal mentors to develop a relationship around an academic focus. Scholars gain career awareness and have an opportunity to discuss college experiences and possible professional pathways. Volunteers and students meet face-to-face three times (at the companies and at school) and exchange four or five monitored emails. Thank you to all who have contributed to the success of our program for 30 years!

Volunteers Needed!

Art & Science in One (AS1) is an outdoor program in which volunteers mentor fourth and fifth graders from Tobin Montessori in nature observation, journaling, drawing, and a little bit of poetry inspired by these practices. This year, participants will also contribute to a "Field Guide," an artifact showcasing participants' drawings and poetry. We are registering volunteers now for this wonderful Spring program!

This workshop will review foundational skills for reading and the instructional practices relevant across grades and reading abilities. We will also include a focus on struggling readers and the types of challenges they may face during school years.
