Occupational Health

Carbon Monoxide: IHSA learned of a multiple-worker workplace injury due to carbon monoxide poisoning at a North York construction site. It’s important to keep in mind the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO).

Carbon monoxide is a colourless, odourless, and highly poisonous gas. It is produced by the incomplete burning of fuels. CO interferes with your body's ability to use oxygen and can kill you. Check out this safety talk or eLearning program to learn more about it and its related controls.

In construction, transportation, and utilities, workers face chemical and physical hazards. An exposure assessment helps determine the risk level from hazardous substances and agents. Visit IHSA's Occupational Health page for more information on types of assessments and their application in your workplace.
