October Luncheon Featured Presentations on

Financial Crimes

The Chamber's October 10th luncheon was one of the most well-attended that we’ve had in quite awhile! It was great seeing so many new, and familiar, faces. Special thanks to Brittany Henton and staff at O'Shea Builders for hosting our luncheon; Jim Blizzard, and his team at Hy-Vee for the fantastic Asian lunch items; to our presenters, Matt Stark from Bank of Springfield; Charla Buchanan from CEFCU; and local FBI Agent Jason, who all spoke on various types of financial crimes. Finally, we appreciate Kim Staff, owner of Staff Carpet, for being our Business Exhibitor!

October 2024 Member of the Month ~ CheckPoint Tire & Service Center

Pictured L to R: Tim Welch, Randy McNeal, Chris Muncy, Adam Fromme, and Nathan Stotts

Congratulations to Checkpoint Tire & Service Center for being chosen the Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce’s Member of the Month for October!

Now in its 26th year of business, CheckPoint Tire & Service Center is busy from the time they open until the time they close. Owners Bill Law and Randy McNeal hit the ground running when they decided to launch their own automotive store. Sales Manager Adam Fromme says they are not only proud of the work they do, but of their staff as well. "I started working here when I was in high school, then went away to college to get my bachelor's degree. I graduated and ended up coming right back here. That was 25 years ago." Adam pointed out that CheckPoint has several long-term employees - some over 20 years.

All of CheckPoint’s mechanics are certified and highly-trained, and can handle both basic repairs and maintenance, to more advanced repairs and computer diagnostics. They are also certified to maintain new car warranties, so you can rely on them to be your one-stop service center.

They take time to explain every job, and always provide their customers with an estimate in advance. Every one of their customers can be assured that their technicians have been trained to repair their vehicle - old and new alike - the very first time.

They are located at 23 Cottonwood Dr. in Chatham. Their hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. They are closed on Sunday.

The Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce is honored to name CheckPoint Tire & Service Center as its Member of the Month for October!

Sponsorships Sought for Light Up the Park

The 2024 edition of Chatham Friends of the Parks “Light Up the Park” drive-through holiday light display marks 12 years of raising the spirits of more than 35,000 people.

The event opens the day after Thanksgiving and operates Thursday through Sunday nights plus Monday, December 23, Christmas Eve, and Christmas night. They are adding special evenings for families to walk and ride bikes through the lights.

Area businesses continue to play a pivotal role in this annual Chatham holiday tradition. Each year, more and more out-of-town and out-of-state visitors make the trip to Chatham to include “Light Up the Park” in their holiday season festivities.

With your help, they aim to continue that success and build upon it even more. The Friends are requesting help from your business to continue to expand this holiday tradition and to reach people from Chatham, Springfield, and the surrounding area.
