Congratulations to Hy-Vee for being chosen the Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce’s Member of the Month for January!
Hy-Vee, Inc. is an employee-owned corporation operating more than 550 business units across nine Midwestern states, including Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Hy-Vee ranks in the Top 5 Most Trusted Brands and, in September 2024, was voted “Best Grocery Store in America,” according to USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards, taking the top spot among the most-loved grocery stores in the country.
“Hy-Vee is more than just a brand. It's a symbol of quality, variety, convenience, healthy lifestyles, culinary expertise and superior customer service,” shared Jim Blizzard, district store director of the Springfield Hy-Vee. “But what truly sets Hy-Vee apart is its unwavering commitment to its community, especially in times of need. As an employee, I am not just proud, but deeply honored to be part of a company that has made it its mission to combat food insecurity.”
Hy-Vee has a long history of supporting the communities it serves through initiatives like its One Step program, which funds projects locally and worldwide addressing hunger, clean water and reforestation. Hy-Vee Homefront, its ongoing initiative to support our nation's military members, veterans and their families, raises money each November for organizations that support veterans. Additionally, the Hy-Vee Veterans Day breakfasts serve more than 90,000 veterans, active duty military members and their families each Veterans Day.
Hy-Vee has partnered with Feeding America and member food banks on its 100 Million Meals Challenge, which launched last year. Through this challenge, Central Illinois Hy-Vee stores have raised more than $80,000 collected from the register round up campaigns at the Central Illinois Hy-Vee stores and Fast & Fresh locations. All funds collected at the stores go directly to the Central Illinois Foodbank to benefit their network of food pantries. The Central Illinois Hy-Vee stores have donated more than 60,000 pounds of food through food rescue programs. This equates to more than 50,000 meals to individuals and families in Central Illinois experiencing food insecurity.
The Springfield Hy-Vee is located at 2115 S. MacArthur Blvd., Springfield, and is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce is honored to name Hy-Vee as its Member of the Month for January.
