Sponsorship Still Open for Mardi Gras; Silent Auction Items Being Accepted

The Chamber's Mardi Gras Celebration has been a staple in our community for over 20 years! This year, hundreds of guests will enjoy live music by Dave Littrell, catered meal featuring creole dishes by Fulgenzi's Catering, drinks by Just the Basics Mobile Bar, and dessert by Smallcakes Cupcakery & Creamery. There will be amazing auction items, games and much more. Monies raised from the event help fund college scholarships, promote business and economic development, provide business communications, referrals, and networking opportunities in and around our community.

The 2024 event will take place on February 24th at Prairie View Reception Center in Chatham. Details are below and also online at https://www.chatham-il-chamber.com/mardi-gras-community-celebration.

The Chatham Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Ribbon Cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on January 18 to celebrate the opening of Pole Barn Chic's newest event venue! The event will take place at their 4491 Old Chatham Rd., in Springfield. All are welcome to attend! Plan to arrive early as onsite parking will fill up fast, but overflow parking is available at the Hampton Inn & Suites and the Staybridge Suites, located directly north of Pole Barn Chic, behind Menards. Shuttles will be running back and forth continuously throughout the event.

In addition, the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce will hold their Ribbon Cutting ceremony directly after ours, with their "Chamber on Tap" event following that from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Chatham Area Chamber members are invited to attend this as well at the Springfield Chamber member price of $5 per person, payable at the event. Just mention that you are a Chatham Chamber member at their registration table.

Each year, the Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce awards scholarships to three local graduating seniors. The students receive a $1,000 scholarship to be applied to the college or university of their choice.

There have been some updates made to our application this year. For the first time, students will complete and submit the application online. Also, and more significantly, the Chatham Chamber Board of Directors voted to classify our scholarships as a member benefit, thus opening the scholarships to all high school seniors who meet the following qualifications:

  • They must reside in Sangamon County; and
  • They or their parent/guardian must be employed by a Chatham Area Chamber member

Applications will be blind-reviewed based on a combination of academic achievement, volunteer and/or work experience, and essay/response regarding the Chatham Chamber and its work.

All applications must be submitted online by 5 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2024.
