Dear Doctor,
There has been a lot of request for more detailed information about my treatment plan for military personnel and veterans. The following newsletter reviews a case from start to finish. I have included the lab test results and chief complaints the patient had when I determined their nutritional program, I also had access to their health questionnaires that helped guide the program. The patient's medical history was unremarkable and had no bearing on the treatment plan. Requirement to be in the program: 1. Patient had to feel burnt-out 2. Patient had to want to get better 3. Unremarkable health history; i.e. cancer, epilepsy, blood thinners - these are active service Marines so a good standard minimal health level was assured 4. Medications were not an exclusion; i.e. anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, etc. The program protocol was: 1. Maslach Burnout Inventory Test online - more information at www.mindgarden.com2. Intake healthcare forms - standard in all practices
3. Neuroscience Testing for cortisol, DHEA, Melatonin and Neurotransmitters 4. Nutritional recommendations 5. Repeat steps 1-4 after 90 days 6. Repeat steps 1-3 after 180 days There were no changes made to participants lifestyle or dietary habits. Patients were able to ask questions by email and phone, but were not seen by me.
If you find this information and format useful please let me know and I will do several additional cases. I welcome your comments and suggestions szodkoy@hotmail.com , 732-308-0097 732=308-0099 Wishing you good health, Dr. Steven Zodkoy P.S. Grammar, spelling and editing are not my forte, I apologize for any errors.

Patient: Male, age 47, USMC combat officer. Vitamins: Multiviatmin, Zinc, DHEA OTC: Motrin Rx: Nexium, Mobix, Sildenafil
Date of Test: 5/14/14 Maslach Burnout Inventory:
(-27) = Severe Burnout
+18 = No BurnoutHealth Questionnaire Score:
Physical and Emotional Total score: 84, Goal: 0
Chief Complaints:
- Anger
- Sleep
- Fatigue
- Memory

Cortisol levels
DHEA level
Melatonin level
The lab results showed some clear-cut issues. The neurotransmitter levels overall were low with Serotonin, Epinephrine and GABA being the primary issues. GABA the most powerful calming neurotransmitter was nearly now existent which would explain the patients anxiety, anger and poor sleep.
The cortisol graph was high all around. There may have been an issue with the early morning test, since it was 3x higher then expected. I chose to concern my self with the fact that the cortisol level was high throughout the day and rose when the patient was trying to sleep.
Clinical Note: The adrenals are high but Epinephrine and Norepinephrine are low. This indicates to me that the adrenals are struggling to meet the stress needs of the patients and is allowing other products of the adrenals lag.
When reviewing NeuroScience labs it is important to decide on a starting point and not try and correct everything all at once. I always start by strengthening the adrenals. The adrenals are involved in pain, fatigue, GI function, mental stability, muscle and nerve function, just about everything in the body is reliant on proper adrenal function. The adrenals will make the biggest and quickest change in how your patient feels both physically and emotionally, this will insure program compliance. Fine tuning of their labs can be done on follow up visits.
Recommended Nutritional Supplements and why:
Adrecore - 1 in am - AdreCor combines L-tyrosine and low-dose Rhodiola rosea (standardized to >15% rosavins) to support the synthesis and release of norepinephrine and epinephrine from the adrenal glands.* Epinephrine synthesis and the methylation process are supported with L-methionine, 5-MTHF and methylcobalamin.* B and C vitamins are included to enhance cortisol production for comprehensive adrenal support.* Recommended for patients with fatigue who require comprehensive adrenal neurotransmitter and hormone support.*Dr. Zodkoy's Resiliency - 1 in am - see below Sevelance: 1 - 3x a day - Dysregulation of the sympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) can lead to a wide variety of symptoms commonly associated with persistent stress, including fatigue, poor concentration, and low mood. Selevance helps restore balance to the sympathetic nervous system.* The primary ingredient, tyrosine ethyl ester, is an easily absorbed form of tyrosine and a precursor for norepinephrine.* The locus ceruleus, a key brain area, utilizes norepinephrine to regulate sympathetic nervous system activity. Selevance also contains glutamic acid to stimulate vagal signals to the brain to further enhance central norepinephrine output.* In addition, Selevance contains 5-HTP to support serotonin, L-arginine to boost the parasympathetic nervous system, and L-DOPA as an additional modulator of central ANS control.* Kavinace: 1 - 3x a day for anxiety, 8am, 12 pm and 4 pm, an extra may be taken if needed, maximum 4 a day - AdreCor combines L-tyrosine and low-dose Rhodiola rosea (standardized to >15% rosavins) to support the synthesis and release of norepinephrine and epinephrine from the adrenal glands.* Epinephrine synthesis and the methylation process are supported with L-methionine, 5-MTHF and methylcobalamin.* B and C vitamins are included to enhance cortisol production for comprehensive adrenal support.* Recommended for patients with fatigue who require comprehensive adrenal neurotransmitter and hormone support.* |
Dr. Zodkoy's Resiliency Formula:
The research program was supported by Neuroscience, they graciously donated the testing, products and their staffs time. The only major product that I needed in addition to their products was an adrenal glandular formula.
I designed Dr. Zodkoy's Resiliencey Formula to meet the needs of most Burnout/Adrenal Fatigue patients. I wanted a product that would support both over-active and under-active adrenals over a long period of time. This product was designed to have maximum impact with minimal dosage. I recommend 1-2 in am and 1-2 at lunch.
The formula tested so well that I now produce it if for my patients and for other doctors to purchase. If you would like more information send me an email,

Re-Test: 8/23/13 after 90 days on nutritional supplements
Maslach Burnout Inventory: (-17) = Severe BurnoutA 22% Improvement
+18 = No BurnoutHealth Questionnaire Score:
Physical and Emotional Total score: 21, Goal 0 A 75% Improvement Chief Complaints:

Recommended Nutritional Supplements and why:
Great progress was made in the first 90 days. His physical and emotional complaints are way down. His big complaints are anger and sleep. I believe his anger comes from the frustration of not being able to handle both physical and emotional stress and lack of sleep.
The retest showed that his neurotransmitter levels have gone from deficient to above average. These swing should level out as time goes on, but the surge in neurotransmitters is sure to improve how he feels. His cortisol levels are good overall, but a reduction after 6 pm would greatly improve his sleep.
New Nutritional Program:
Dr. Z's Resiliency Formula - 1 upon awaking - This formula is designed to strengthen the adrenals to respond better to all types of stress and improve energy, but not overstimulate the body or cause anxiety. It contains adrenals and adaptogens, see above for more details. Avipanix - 1 30 minutes before Breakfast and 1 30 minutes before lunch - This product with Huperzine is excellent for cognitive function. It works by improving acetycholine levels. It also contains L-carnitine which improved mitochondria and fatty acid transportation which improves energy and focus. Calm CP - 2 at 4 pm - This product contains Banaba to reduce cortisol production and Phosophatidyleserine which helps the Hippocampus-Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenals communicate better. This communication is often damaged by long periods of stress and anxiety. Kavinace Ultra PM - 1 after dinner - This formula contains Phenibut and Melatonin which makes it excellent for promoting sleep. Kavinace (not Kavinace PM) if you feel anxiety during the day, as needed. max 3 a day. This product contains Phenibut and Taurine which are GABA agonist. This is a strong anti-anxiety product.

Re-Test: 12/13/13 after 180 days on nutritional supplements Maslach Burnout Inventory:
+16 = Minimal/No Burnout
A 96% overall improvement
+18 = No BurnoutHealth Questionnaire Score:
Physical and Emotional Total score: 18, Goal 0 A 79% Improvement Chief Complaint:
|
Case Summary:
This Marine had a major improvement in his physical and emotional complaints. His burnout score improved by 96% and his overall complaints improved by 84%. If this was achieved with medications or surgery it would be on every news channel. This is slightly higher then the overall test group which improved 80-84% in both categories. Nutritional supplementation based on Neuroscience hormone and neurotransmitter testing, test 9328 was used in this case, is a powerful treatment tool on its own or combined with other therapies.

Veterans Program:
Many physicians have expressed interest in working with veterans. My program is for vets in MA, MS, PA, NY and NJ. I am presently looking for physicians who practice NeuroEmotional Technique or a similar therapy. I am open and welcome suggestions for additional treatment protocols that may benefit veterans and soldiers. If you have an idea please contact me and we can go over how your protocol can be added into the program.

Final Thoughts:
If you are new to Neuroscience testing or would like a second opinion on a case I am always available for a discussion. To often alternative health practitioners find themselves alone in treating difficult cases, I think we need to all work together to help our patients, improve our segment of healthcare and bring the joy back to practicing. Practice Hint: Patients with anxiety, depression, Fibromyalgia CFS and other mind-body health issues are looking for alternatives to medications, but are skeptical. My book Misdiagnosed: The Adrenal Fatigue Link was written to introduce my own patients to Neuroscience Testing and or nutritional supplementation. I recommend that you buy an e-copy of the book. I made it so that e-copies of the book can be lent which means you can send it to a patient by email and it is returned automatically to you in 2 weeks. This process can be repeated over and over again with the same book. Wishing you all good health, Dr. Steven Zodkoy
