OES Receives Achievement Award for Firewise Communities Microgrant Program

Last week, the National Association of Counties (NACo) held its Annual Conference in Travis County, Texas. Nevada County District 1 Supervisor Heidi Hall was in attendance to receive the 2023 NACo Achievement Award: Best in Category on behalf of the Nevada County Office of Emergency Services (OES). The County stood out among its peers nationally in the Risk and Emergency Management category for implementing the first of its kind Firewise Communities Microgrant Program.

Nevada County Connects you with free fares to the fair, August 9th through 13th

Nevada County Connects Offers Free Fares to the Nevada County Fair!

Nevada County Transit Services is pleased to announce our upcoming Free Fare Days event in conjunction with the Nevada County Fair. All transit services will be free to ride during the Nevada County Fair--from Wednesday, August 9th through Sunday, August 13th--so hop on the bus and enjoy stress-free travel around the community.


In addition to the Free Fare Event, Nevada County Connects will operate a free shuttle service from the Tinloy Transit Center in downtown Grass Valley to the main gate at the Fairgrounds approximately every 30 minutes.

Applications Still Open for Sheriff's Community Academy

The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office invites community members who live or work in Nevada County to apply for our annual Community Academy. This free 12-week program is designed to give those with little to no law enforcement exposure or experience a chance to see what goes on “behind the scenes” at their Sheriff’s office. 


The academy will be held every Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, August 16th through November 1st. Apply today!

9:30 am: Closed Session

 

10:15 am: Informational presentation from Pioneer Community Energy regarding Community Choice Aggregation (CCA).

 

Resolution approving an amendment to the contract between the County of Nevada and Abbott & Kindermann, Inc. for legal services related to the Idaho Maryland Mine - Rise Grass Valley Project.

 

11:30 am: Resolution approving a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the County of Nevada, Rough & Ready Fire Protection District, Penn Valley Fire Protection District, and Nevada County Consolidated Fire District to support the reorganization of these districts into one consolidated district and provide gap funding to operate Rough & Ready Fire Station No. 59 prior to consolidation.

Resolution ratifying the contract for the Donner Pass Road Rockslide Project between the County of Nevada and Neil's Controlled Blasting L.P.
