Learn About a New Option for Electricity Service through Pioneer Energy
Residents of unincorporated Nevada County have opportunities in the coming weeks to learn more about a proposed alternative for getting electricity service.
The Board of Supervisors is considering whether to adopt a Community Choice Aggregation plan using Pioneer Community Energy. The Board will host an informational session on the plan at their August 8th meeting, with a vote possible in October. In the meantime, there are several opportunities to learn more from Pioneer Community Energy representatives.

Join the Nevada County Sheriff's Office, our law enforcement partners, and community-based organizations on Tuesday, August 1st for National Night Out celebrations in Truckee and Grass Valley. Events will include a Kids Color Fun Run, live music, free food, games, public safety exhibits, and more!

County to Receive $25K Grant to Help Residents with Low Income Connect to Affordable Internet
Nevada County learned last Tuesday that it is receiving a $25,000 grant from the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF) to help low-income residents get discounted Internet service. The money will be used for outreach to let eligible residents know about the federal Affordable Connectivity Program, which provides $30 per month toward Internet service and a one-time payment of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer. The CETF estimates there are about 14,000 households in Nevada County that qualify but have not received the discounts.

2023 Road Rehabilitation Project on Dog Bar Road Completed Early | |

Summer is roadwork season, and our Department of Public Works contractor completed the 2023 Road Rehabilitation Project on the following roads:
- Dog Bar Road between Alta Sierra Drive and Mount Olive Road
- Dog Bar Road between Morning Sun Lane and Magnolia Road
- Magnolia Road between Dog Bar Road and Clifford Road
- Carrie Drive between Gary Way and Dog Bar Road
- Bobcat Court
- Cougar Court
- Gold Country Drive
Paving and resurfacing were completed on July 7th, and last week the contractor wrapped up striping and installation of recessed markers. Our Public Works team would like to thank the community for their patience through this project.

Supervisor Heidi Hall Appointed to Role Promoting Western States' Interests
In June 2023, District 1 Supervisor Heidi Hall was appointed to the board of the Western Interstate Region (WIR), an organization affiliated with the National Association of Counties (NACo), where she joins 29 other representatives from western state counties. Hall's goal in this new role is to ensure that California's rural needs, such as our interest providing more resources to manage and support recreation on public lands; overall wildfire concerns, such as insurance coverage and resources for vegetation management and evacuation planning, are heard at a higher level.
