Nevada INBRE is requesting applications to fund the purchase of research equipment, up to $100,000. This funding initiative is designed to support biomedical research, provide research training for undergraduate and graduate students, and improve competitiveness for federal funding at UNLV. The equipment must support multiple researchers in areas including, but not limited to, molecular biology, cell growth and development, microbiology, biochemistry, ecology of disease, systems biology (omics), microscopy, and neurobiology.

Instructions/guidelines
Submit a one-page (single-space, 1-inch margins, 12-point Times New Roman font) application containing the following:

  1. DESCRIPTION: Title, Lead Faculty applicant (PI leading the request for equipment), and description of equipment.
  2. PROJECTS: Briefly describe three or more projects/PIs that will utilize the requested equipment. Applications with fewer than three users will not be considered.
  3. STATEWIDE COLLABORATION: Briefly describe a plan for shared usage of the equipment by NV INBRE Partner Institutions (CSN, GBC, NSC, SNC, TMCC, UNR, WNC).
  4. TRACKING & MAINTENANCE: Proposed plan to track usage and maintenance of equipment.

The Lead Faculty applicant will be expected to provide reports on a yearly basis on the number of publications and grant submissions supported by the research equipment. The Lead Faculty applicant and users are required to cite the Nevada-INBRE Grant (GM103440) in publications supported by the equipment. Applications that are collaborative, interdisciplinary, or educational are encouraged. Applications supporting the purchase of one single piece of equipment or a suite of different pieces of equipment supporting a research theme are eligible.
