Welcome to the new newsletter! In order to create a more engaging newsletter and to keep email lists as we switch to 4HOnline 2.0 (see 2020-2021 Program Year below), I am now utilizing this format for newsletter type emails. All those that were enrolled for the 2019-2020 year will be on this list until further notice. Please make sure to add this to your trusted email list. You may still see occasional emails come from 4HOnline. If you have any feedback on this new format, please email me at oosterh6@msu.edu!

4-H Programs Virtual Until Further Notice
|
A reminder from the announcement sent last week that all 4-H programs, including clubs meetings, project meetings, workshops, and activities, are to be virtual until further notice. This includes cohorts that typically meet in the name of 4-H and are attempting to meet outside the 4-H name.
Virtual meetings and activities are supported and encouraged. If your club needs help with ideas, brainstorming, or tips, please attend the Virtual Fireside Chat for Volunteers listed in the Upcoming County 4-H Events and Activities section!

Our 2019-2020 4-H year is coming to an end at the end of August, which means it is time to start considering the 2020-2021 program year which begins September 1. There are a few changes with the new year:
-
No 4-H Participation Fee. The 4-H Participation Fee of $20/youth or $60/family has been waived for the 2020-2021 program year. Families do not have to pay this fee to join 4-H. Clubs and individual experiences may still have a registration fee. All 4-H members and volunteers must still enroll in the program.
-
4HOnline is getting an upgrade! Our state is being introduced into 4HOnline 2.0 in a few weeks. Everyone who was enrolled (active status in the current 4HOnline) in the 2019-2020 program year will have their data transferred to 2.0 to complete re-enrollment for this new year. The current system will be shut down from August 27 until approximately September 14 to allow for this data transfer. If you are looking to enroll in 4-H for the 2020-2021 program year, please follow instructions that will be sent toward the end of September.
If you have questions about either of these changes, please email oosterh6@msu.edu.

Now that we are at the end of our 4-H program year, now is the time to begin thinking about nominating and submitting awards for youth and volunteers for all of your hard work this past 4-H year! 4-H Council voted to extend the deadline for county 4-H awards to November 15, 2020 and offer the option to submit awards online via Google Forms. Council also voted that leader signatures are not required this year to reduce barriers for applying. If you have trouble with the website or Google Forms, please email oosterh6@msu.edu for a PDF of the application you need. The 4-H Participation Celebration awards banquet will be held in late February/early March (may be virtual depending on program guidelines at that time).
