HISTORY OF GLENMORE -- Part III

This is the third in a series of articles to be published by the Glenmore Community Association in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the founding of our community by Frank and Peggy Kessler. This article and future ones are intended to inform residents who have recently moved into Glenmore about the rich history of our community and its surrounding areas.

Architectural Review Committee (ARC) Seeks New Members

ARC reviews and approves changes to existing homes and properties, consistent with the Covenants and Regulations (C&Rs) and current Architectural and Landscape Guidelines to ensure Glenmore is maintained as central Virginia's most desirable, sought after, private residential community.

ARC members 1) review applications, visit the home site and approve, make suggestions for change or deny the request and 2) ensure projects are completed in accordance with the application. Current members estimate spending 10 – 15 hours per month. Serving on the ARC is a great way to get to know your community and your neighbors.

Interested? Please contact: ARC chair Judy Fox at arc@glenmore-community.org

Watch Out for Oak Wilt

If you have have oak trees, especially Red Oak, please be aware that we are starting to see the disease, Oak Wilt, in the area. It is a fungal disease that is easily spread from tree to tree via the root system. It can be fatal to the tree and can be fast acting. If you notice that your oak trees have not leafed out or are showing signs of new dead area, contact an arborist to determine if your tree has Oak Wilt. This disease is sometimes treatable using injections.

There are several varieties of red oak. To help in identifying red oak trees check out this site:
