It's About Dogs!
Based on demographics of communities like ours, a conservative estimate projects that 400+ dogs live in our community. That makes for a lot of dog walking, doggie do-do; dogs lost, dogs loose and dogs barking.
As a subdivision of Albemarle County, Glenmore is subject to the county's ordinances regarding dogs. (See links below).
Rather than a listing a bunch of DON'Ts, here a list of DO's
DO - license your dog and attach the tag to your dog's collar.
DO - keep your dog on a leash at all times. Positive control is not enough.
DO - prevent excessive barking. Be a good neighbor and find out what's causing your dog to bark excessively and work modify the behavior. Check out this WebMD article for some suggestions
DO - make use of the Glenmore Dog Park, located West of the Sports Field, off Carroll Creek.
DO - make use of the 15+ miles of Walking Paths and Trails to exercise your dog, and
DO - make use of the DoodyCalls pet waste stations located throughout the community when you walk your dog anywhere in Glenmore.

First, reach out to your neighbor. Let them know your concerns.

Contact Albemarle County Police to report excessive barking, use the Non-Emergency Number 434-977-9041)

Report injuries caused by unleashed dogs, contact Albemarle County Animal Control at (434) 977-9041) to file a report.
- If your dog is missing, call the SPCA at (434) 973-5959 or the Animal Control officer at (434) 977-9041 and file a lost dog report (your dog may have lost his/her collar and may have been taken to the SPCA).
