A Message from the GCA President

Dear Neighbors:

I was asked, “What does the Board want to accomplish this year? In general, the Board and its Committees are eager to continue the initiatives as outlined in the 2020 Glenmore Strategic Plan. More specifically, we hope to complete the following projects this year.

  • Landscape Repair. Restore our community landscaping. Getting our roads and walking paths cleared was addressed first. Removal of debris is now underway. That is a big, big job. When that is completed, we will address the hiking trails.
  • Gatehouse Upgrades. Installation of a new license plate camera reader system and additional cameras. This will provide broader video surveillance of our entrance and exit areas and will include the ability to monitor pedestrian traffic. This new system will be managed by Securitas, our security firm, and will eliminate the requirement of a Glenmore resident volunteer to maintain and manage an outdated system.
  • Pedestrian Safety. Continued focus on traffic and pedestrian safety, including traffic calming measures, improving line-of-site issues on Newbridge and Farringdon, pedestrian visibility at cross walks, roadway markings and related improvements.
  • New Common Areas. Construction is winding down in the Highlands and we expect the GCA will be requested to assume responsibility for those common area elements, roads, green space and storm water facilities. The GCA will ensure they are compliant with current standards before we accept those responsibilities.
  • Glen Lochen Dam. Work will continue on site improvements and documentation necessary for this dam to comply with State requirements.
  • Celebrate Glenmore. Yes, we are going to party! Our Community Engagement Committee is planning a series of events to celebrate Glenmore’s 30th anniversary. Information on that will be rolling out over the next few months.

None of the above items, or the multitude of tasks required to operate a 900+ residential community can be achieved without resident volunteers. Many thanks to our current Board and many Committee Members for serving this year.

Happy 30th Anniversary, Glenmore

30TH ANNIVERSARY LOGO.png

This year, Glenmore celebrates its 30th anniversary (1992) and marks the 390th year (1672) since the land on which our homes are now built was chartered by King George II of England.

Mark your calendar now for this comunity-wide celebration of Glenmore's 30th Anniversary, August 12 -14.

And we need your help. The Committee for the 30th is looking for:

  • Pictures and documents. Early pictures and documents: Glenmore under construction, newsletters, promotional, print ads, press releases, brochures and pictures of founders, early residents, staff and events.

  • Your ideas. A multi-day, multi-generational, multi-venue approach is envisioned. It's your weekend, let us know how you'd like to spend it with your neighbors, and

  • Your time. Two or three non-Club members are needed to serve on the Committee for the 30th.

Email Nancy Gansneder, Chair, Committee for the 30th, if you have a treasure trove documenting early Glenmore, your ideas, and your interest.

Dog Station.jpg

The Sports Field is a Mess!

It's estimated that some 400 dogs are part of our Glenmore Community. Unfortunately, more than a few of them are doing their business at the Sports Field.

The Sports Field is a playground for children and adults. It is NOT the Dog Park. The Dog Park just a few steps away, across the drive adjacent to the Sports Field. While dogs are welcome to run and play in the Sports Field, their POOP is not welcome.

The Sports Field has been rendered unusable by the proliferation poop. It's gross and a health hazard, and parents won't let their children play there!

Please make use of the Pet Waste station located at the Sports Field and clean up after your dog.

Board Actions - March 17, 2022

  • Committee Appointments. Thirty-two Glenmore residents joined the Glenmore corps of volunteers as new or returning members of the GCA's operating and advisory committees. These committees work in conjunction with the Board and Management to ensure that Glenmore continues to be the most sought after residential community in central Virginia. Be sure to thank these dedicated folks when see them in the community. View the complete list here.

  • Financial Policy Update. Approved a change to the GCA Financial Policy with regard to Investment Policy. Click to view change.
