In June 2023, Hamilton saw an influx of new youth into the labour force. With the summer rolling in, more youth are entering the labour force and looking for employment.
81% of job postings did not list educational requirements, from the 19% which did, most employers were looking for candidates with a High School Diploma or equivalent at 32%.

HCCI: Black Youth Mentorship Program | |

HCCI is excited to announce the recruitment of new participants to its Black Youth Mentorship program. This initiative, has been one that is long running, and is geared toward uplifting and supporting Black youth in the Hamiltonian community. This program will pair youth with mentors in the community to offer them one-to-one support. We hope by implementing a program such as this, we can facilitate rich, long-term connections for Black youth in the community and propel them towards success in their lives.

What it’s like to live with anxiety and depression as a small-business owner
Throughout my 16-year journey as an entrepreneur, I have often found myself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, even challenged by the expectations that I put on myself to make sure Powerful Play Experiences is a successful business. I’m not alone in these feelings. A 2019 study by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) found that 62% of business owners feel depressed at least once a week. Nearly half of the entrepreneurs surveyed (46%) said that mental health issues interfere with their ability to work.
