Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO) is pleased to announce the launch of a new oncology project in partnership with Vietnam’s largest cancer center, National Cancer Hospital (NCH) in Hanoi. Working with local personnel at NCH, HVO volunteers will increase knowledge and skills of local staff in medical, surgical and radiation oncology, as well as the capacity of NCH oncologists to design, conduct and publish research.
Volunteers will serve as members of six distinct multidisciplinary teams, consisting of two to four providers. The six teams include:
- Malignancies of the immune system and clinical research;
- Multidisciplinary approach to breast cancer treatment;
- Malignancies of the upper and lower GI tract;
- Lung cancers;
- Progress and controversies in diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer; and
- Radiation oncology.
There may also be opportunities for individual volunteers to reinforce training done by teams and/or meet additional training needs.
