BART TO OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT NOW OPEN!

BART to Oakland International Airport services is now open. Watch this video for a preview of the station and new trains!
The Port of Oakland partnered to support the construction of the new station. This project exceeded its local hire and business goals awarding $45.6 million dollars to Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE). The project local hire goal of 50% was exceeded where 60% of the work was performed by Oakland residents.

MCCLYMONDS HIGH STEM ACADEMY PRESENTATIONS
The Port of Oakland partnered with McClymonds High School STEM Academy. Port employees provided guidance and feedback on the students' "How to Measure Success" presentations. This is part of our initiative to support a workforce pipeline to careers tied to our maritime, aviation, and commercial real estate business lines.

WEST OAKLAND JOB RESOURCE CENTER'S OPEN HOUSE
The Port of Oakland supported the West Oakland Job Resource Center's Open House which showcased new employment programs and training opportunities. The job center prepares the community for careers in the building and construction trades.

UNITY COUNCIL'S ANNUAL DIA DE LOS MUERTOS FESTIVAL
The Port of Oakland proudly supported the Unity Council's Annual Dia de los Muertos Festival in Oakland's Fruitvale community. This year the children's coloring artwork is displayed at the Port of Oakland! Thank you to all our young artists!

Local Hire and Business Update - Nov. 2014
Development on the Port owned portion of the former OAB is underway. To date, 62% of construction was performed by individuals from the combined Local Impact Area (LIA) and Local Business Area (LBA) - of that amount 27% of the work was performed by Oakland residents.
62% of the 47.5 million spent to date on the OAB was awarded to local small/very small businesses - of that amount 45% was awarded to Oakland businesses.

JESSE BETHEL H.S. LOGISTICS ACADEMY PORT TOUR
Thank you Jesse Bethel H.S. Logistics Academy for coming to the Port of Oakland! The young logistics students met with Port officials to learn about maritime careers and toured our maritime area. This activity is part of our ongoing initiative to support a workforce pipeline.

EOYDC THINK CHINA PRESENTATION
The Port of Oakland is pleased to have sponsored the East Oakland Youth Development Center's "Think China 2014 trip". Our local youth traveled to China this summer to learn more about career paths related to the Port's business lines and presented to the Oakland Board of Port Commissioners. Congratulations to these young people who are focused on the future!

CALIFORNIA COASTAL CLEANUP DAY
More than 100 volunteers collected bags of trash and debris at our annual 2014 California Coastal Cleanup Day at East Creek Slough in Oakland on September 20, 2014. Our group contributed to the 400 total volunteers cleaning up the East Bay Regional Park District's MLK, Jr. Regional Shoreline Park. Thank you: Matson, JetBlue, Southwest, Weiss Associates, Schnitzer Steel, and Rolls Royce for your participation and making this one of the park's biggest cleanups.
