It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you that our leader and friend John Tanner passed away earlier this month. We will all miss him more than words can express.
After graduating from San Jose State with a degree in Civil engineering John began his career as an assistant Traffic Engineer with the City of Campbell. He then moved back to Fallbrook where he worked briefly as a design engineer for BRF engineering followed by O-Day engineering. In 1998 John joined RBF/ Michael Baker International in Temecula CA. He obtained his California Professional Engineers License in 2000. After multiple years of managing various private and public sector projects for RBF/Michael Baker International he transitioned into a leadership role in the Temecula office subsequently taking the position of Land Development Practice Manager for Michael Baker's Western Region. Additionally, John was active in the building industry and served on the Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIA) Riverside County Chapter Board and BIA San Bernardino County Chapter Board for nearly 15 years.
“John Tanner was an outstanding consultant, but a better father to his children and a friend to so many in the building community. With his calm demeanor, intelligence and thoughtfulness, being in his presence was always very comforting and enjoyable. His reputation in the development industry was outstanding, and his career’s legacy stands proud in the countless successful projects that he has helped entitle and develop throughout Southern California.” - Ryan Combe, BIA San Bernardino County Chapter President, Director of Forward Planning, Lennar Homes of California
“Remembering John Tanner, a cornerstone in both civil engineering and our Board. His foundational contributions and selfless dedication have left an enduring blueprint on our community. John will be profoundly missed, and we pledge to honor his dedication, hard work, and the immeasurable value he added to our board.” - Aaron Talarico, BIA San Bernardino County Chapter President, Vice President of Land, Meritage Homes
In this moment of sorrow, we extend our deepest condolences to John's wife, children, family, friends, and all those touched by his presence. In this time of mourning, let us also find strength in each other and the shared commitment to make the world a better place.
