Construction Updates

Welcome to the work zone!

U.S. 69 at Blue Valley Parkway has new pavement - and entering traffic from southbound Blue Valley Parkway has been shifted onto this new ramp pavement. Please be on the lookout for the traffic pattern changes and drive carefully. Significant bridge work continues throughout the corridor as work on many of the southbound U.S. 69 bridges near completion.

At U.S. 69 and 167th Street, excavation continues as the new interchange begins to take shape. Utility work is taking place under the ground between 159th and 151st Streets along the west side of U.S. 69. At 143rd St and U.S. 69, bridge work continues, the inside widening of the southbound U.S. 69 bridge was poured this week with the outside widening to come soon. At U.S. 69 and 139th Street retaining walls are being built and bridge girders will be set next week. At the on-ramp from 135th Street to southbound U.S. 69 paving and bridge work is also taking place.

At College Boulevard and U.S. 69, drilled shafts and pile driving for the two new U.S. 69 bridges are now underway. The closed loop ramp from westbound I-435 to southbound U.S. 69 has allowed crews to demolish and rebuild a retaining wall and drill shafts and drive steel pile to begin construction on a new bridge.

Please watch for crews and equipment and be patient with other drivers during this work. Daily lane closures and overnight work will continue throughout the summer in various areas in the work zone. Subscribe to our text alerts here to know details on every closure and change. Please continue to check 69Express.org for the latest information, as construction schedules are fluid and can change with the weather.

135th Street Work

Bridge work has closed 135th Street under U.S. 69 overnight for about two weeks. Here is a look at what is happening during the closure:

A flatbed truck, loaded with concrete girders, delivers them to the job site. Two cranes then pick the girder from the flatbed, maneuver them carefully in place on the completed bridge foundations.

As the girders are secured in place, the cranes hold them until the job is complete. These girders will support the future southbound lanes of U.S. 69.
