Construction Updates

Welcome to the work zone!

Concrete batch plant inside the WB 135th Street to northbound U.S. 69 loop ramp

Two ramps at 135th Street have now reopened as planned for the holiday season. Work on the 135th Street loop ramp to northbound U.S. 69 and the northbound U.S. 69 to 135th Street off-ramp concluded last Wednesday, Nov. 15. Additionally, the 135th to southbound U.S. 69 on-ramp will reopen by Monday, Nov. 20, resuming access to southbound U.S. 69 from 135th Street.

Bridge demolition will begin just north of 135th Street at the Tomahawk Creek Trail. For public safety, parts of the trail will remain closed throughout the duration of construction in this area. See the Overland Park trail closure map to see adjacent trails and detour routes.

Behind the Scenes

Aerial view of construction at Blue Valley Parkway

The photo above shows construction of the future flyover ramp from Blue Valley Parkway to southbound U.S. 69. This ramp will replace the current configuration, allowing travelers from Blue Valley Parkway the option to enter U.S. 69 southbound on the right side or allow direct access into the express lane for drivers who wish to use it.

Bridge work over the Indian Creek Trail

The aerial photo above shows paving and bridge work that crews are completing over the Indian Creek Trail approaching 119th Street. Hikers and bikers please note: the trail is closed at this location for your safety. Please take the detour route. For more information see the Overland Park trail map.
