Significant bridge work and paving continues throughout the corridor as work on many of the southbound U.S. 69 bridges near completion.
A traffic switch is coming in the next two weeks. Traffic will be moved into a head-to-head configuration between College Boulevard and 119th Street. Southbound traffic will shift onto a portion of the newly constructed southbound bridge over Indian Creek via temporary connections. Northbound traffic will be switched to the existing southbound lanes and over a portion of the old bridge to allow construction for a new northbound bridge over Indian Creek. Watch for signs alerting you to the change.
At 143rd Street and U.S. 69, bridge work is nearing completion along the southbound lanes. Bridge girders have been set at U.S. 69 and 139th Street and retaining walls are being built.
At College Boulevard and U.S. 69, drilled shafts and pile driving for the two new U.S. 69 bridges are complete, with deck work underway now. The closed loop ramp from westbound I-435 to southbound U.S. 69 allowed crews to demolish and rebuild a retaining wall and drill shafts and drive steel pile to begin construction on a new bridge. This interchange will continue to experience lane closures as bridge work continues in the coming weeks.
Please watch for crews and equipment and be patient with other drivers during this work. Daily lane drops and overnight work will continue throughout the fall in various areas in the work zone. Subscribe to our text alerts here to know details on every closure and change. Please continue to check 69Express.org for the latest information, as construction schedules can change with the weather.
