Construction Update: I-435

Over the past couple of weeks, bridge construction has been underway at the I-435 and U.S. 69 interchange.

The image to the right shows crews demolishing the existing U.S. 69 southbound bridge over I-435. Work occurred during the full weekend closure of I-435.

Periodic daytime and nighttime off-peak lane closures will continue to occur at this location, affecting both U.S. 69 and I-435, as well as the interchange ramps.

We continue to encourage all drivers to be alert and aware of construction workers and shifting traffic patterns when traveling through the project.

Crews use a milling machine to remove existing asphalt from 119th Street

The reconstruction of 119th Street at U.S. 69 continues to progress on schedule, with an anticipated reopening in late October. In the picture above, crews use a milling machine to “mill,” or remove, old pavement in preparation for laying new asphalt. Once grading for the roadway is complete, new asphalt will be laid and pavement markings applied. For more progress pictures, please visit the project gallery here.
