Public Open House Recap

The 69Express project team held a public open house from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 6 at the AdventHealth Sports Complex at Bluhawk. The project team answered questions, discussed planned work for 2025 and reviewed how to use the express lanes. Kansas Turnpike Authority representatives were on site to show guests how to receive a KTAG to use in the future express lanes and how payments will work when the lanes go live in early 2026.

If you missed the in-person open house or if you attended and want to review the information again, the online version is available through March 7, 2025. Visit 69Express.org and click on the green banner button or click here to fill out the registration information and enter the online open house.

167th Street will close for 180 days

A temporary road closure of 167th Street between Antioch Road and Metcalf Avenue and the U.S. 69 interchange ramps, will begin in early April and end in October (180 days). During this closure period, access for through traffic along 167th Street will not be provided. Traffic will be routed via Antioch Road and Metcalf Avenue as part of the detour routes. Detours will be marked. Additionally, northbound and southbound U.S. 69 at this location will be reduced to a single lane.

Behind the Scenes

The photo above, taken in January, shows noise wall construction progress along U.S. 69 at the Antioch overpass. Traffic at this location is in a head-to-head configuration, which provides space for equipment and construction crews working in the area. Noise wall installation will continue throughout the corridor into late 2025.

Reminder: KTA Scam Alert

Text messages regarding the 69Express project express lanes and appearing to be from the Kansas Turnpike Authority have recently shown up on people’s phones. The KTA has alerted the public about an ongoing text message scam that uses the new Kansas toll payment system name, DriveKS, in an attempt to steal personal information. KTA does not send unsolicited text messages. Anyone who receives a text message like the one shown in the image below or from 69Express regarding payment for tolls should not click the link or use the URL provided. Recipients of these scam texts are encouraged to file a complaint with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov.

The Kansas Turnpike Authority alerted the public about this scam, which poses as a text communication from KTA requesting a fee payment. KTA never sends unsolicited texts.
