See you next week!
Thank you to everyone who registered to play in our annual Chamber golf tournament! We are excited to announce that we have reached capacity for golfers and registration is now CLOSED. Due to COVID restrictions we had to max out at 100 golfers this year versus the usual 144. If you did not receive a confirmation email this means you are NOT REGISTERED. Please email Fabiana if you are concerned and need some clarity.

Golfers! Keep your eyes peeled on your inbox with further tournament information and guidelines as they relate to COVID.

We are so excited to finally see you all in person and look forward to a fun day on the golf course with you!
Cowboy Jacks Coming to AV
Replacing Former Old Chicago
COWBOY JACK’S is in the process of renovating the former OLD CHICAGO building. The building is owned by Ken Sherman and leased by Cowboy Jack’s. The anticipated date for opening is sometime in December. They have their building permit but have not yet applied for their liquor license. The building is completely gutted, however it is our understanding that the banquet hall will remain in possession of Ken Sherman and will remain a banquet hall serviced by Cowboy Jack’s. Only the carpeting has been removed thus far from the banquet hall.
ACE Hardware to Get a Facelift
Artist Rendering Above
ACE Hardware of Apple Valley and locally owned by the Simon family will be completely reconstructing and upgrading the exterior to a very modern look. The focus will be mostly the exterior beautification as well as many interior upgrades as well. Construction will begin this fall and hopefully be completed before the holidays. They will still keep the parts of the wooden floor which are curved when you enter and it is the former rollerskating rink. While we are talking about the Simons, we want to note and again thank ACE Apple Valley for being the sponsor of our Home & Garden Expo. They help fund the 12-page Star Tribune special insert (in all papers south of the river) as well as a special high-gloss insert which reminds people it is “today.” We honestly would not have half the crowd of 6,000 without their generous support.
Quality Dent Removal to Add Neighboring Business
Across from Apple Valley Medical Center
Quality Dent Removal, which is located across the street from Apple Valley Medical Center, will be taking over a different vacant suite in the same business center. It will be called AUTOLUX PROS AUTOMOTIVE FINISHES. They will do “professional detailing, polishing and sealants for your car.” They expect to be open by Thanksgiving. You may remember Dale Schleeter, Owner of Quality Dent Removal, from last year's Chamber Golf Tournament. He put dents into Chamber President Ed Kearney’s car with a hammer and then took the dents out right in front of us all. Don’t forget he gave all of you there a business card with a hole in it the size of a quarter. That entitles you to one dent being removed FREE. If a single dent like that, they will drop everything and take the dent out right in front of you as you watch and done within an hour if several dents. 952-456-0010 or cell 612-423-6969.
Other Updates For You
City Grant Update
Monday August 31st at midnight was the deadline to apply for grants for COVID-related expenses through the City program using CARES ACT money ($4 million for Apple Valley). They put aside $400,000 for businesses. They received applications from 36 businesses. NOTE: THE CITY WILL CONTACT ALL 36 NEXT WEEK AFTER LABOR DAY. They had applications which totaled $270,000 of the $400,000 available.
New Storage Space
Recently, CUBE STORAGE opened just north of Uponor and east of Abdallah Candies. Next to them is Lifeworks. The open field next to Lifeworks will be named “RELIABLE MINI WAREHOUSES.”  It is a MN/WI based company. They are building one building at a time and will build more as demand increases. They will be at a lower price point than CUBE because they will NOT offer heated storage units. The neighborhood right next door across from the Aquatic Center will be very happy these businesses are so quiet. A few years ago, a school district bus garage and maintenance facility was being planned there to much opposition due to diesels warming for hours, having to beep to back up in the middle of the night etc.
Former Vivo Update
The Tavern Bar & Grill (same owners as Edina Tavern on France.) will be moving in soon. They received their liquor license with the City on August 27th and hope to open within a month.
