Hatch BioFund Announces New Partnership with

Brandywine Realty Trust

Hatch BioFund Management LLC, an early stage life sciences venture capital firm headquartered in the Philadelphia region, and Brandywine Realty Trust recently announced a new partnership to support the advancement of life sciences companies in Greater Philadelphia.

Formed in 2023, Hatch BioFund provides early stage capital to promising life science companies, along with access to deep industry expertise and physical platforms to help them realize their missions. In addition to Brandywine, partners include Daiichi Sankyo, the Hepatitis B Foundation, the Blumberg Institute, the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center and B+labs. Please read more here.

PABC supports early life science startups through our

AIZ program

Through a pilot program aimed at accelerating and supporting life sciences startups in our state, the PABC will provide financial support 

and free lab space to more than a dozen startups at the center, B+labs and elsewhere in Pennsylvania. 

The PABC’s new initiative, the Academic Innovation Zone, is managing $5 million through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from the federal Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Funds. Please read more here.

Blumberg Distinguished Professors Receive Prestigious Honor

The Silicon Valley Section of the American Chemical Society presented the 2023 SVACS Harry and Carol Mosher Award to Bruce Maryanoff, PhD, and Cynthia Maryanoff, PhD, both Distinguished Professors at the Blumberg Institute, during a Jan. 25 event at Stanford University. This award recognizes “individuals who make impactful scientific contributions, advance chemistry and support ACS through outreach by sharing chemistry with the general public.” Both Maryanoffs are scholars in drug discovery and management in the pharmaceutical industry. They also are founders of the Maryanoff Scholars, a program to assist undergrad chemistry students at Drexel University. More recently, they founded Absolute Palate® LLC, a coffee business in Hawaii. More here.

Sen. Steven J. Santarsiero honored at the

Regional Biotechnology Conference

The Hepatitis B Foundation, Blumberg Institute and Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center (PABC) recently presented Sen. Steven J. Santarsiero, who represents residents of Bucks County, with the organizations’ first annual Timothy M. Block, PhD, Biotech Impact Award.

The Senator was honored at the 23rd Annual Regional Biotechnology Conference at the PABC, which was attended by about 100 professionals in the life sciences, finance and related sectors. Along with the award, Sen. Santarsiero was presented with a personalized lab coat from the Blumberg Institute. More here.
