Following the launch of the OpenNotes Lab, the organization introduced the first of its inaugural advisory board members. With domains ranging from patient advocacy to health information technology, entrepreneurship to health policy and equity, OpenNotes Lab advisors will help inform and shape strategic initiatives over the next two years.

OpenNotes Welcomes New Team Member

Chethan Sarabu, MD, FAAP, FAMIA, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Stanford Medicine, where he focuses on the intersection of pediatrics, health information policy, and artificial intelligence. His work centers around the practical application of open notes in pediatric settings, with a particular emphasis on health equity and patient privacy considerations. Chethan has been involved in the utilization of Language Models (LLMs) and AI in healthcare, bringing a nuanced perspective to their integration.

Most Cited Paper: The Milbank Quarterly

Congratulations to Sigall Bell, MD, and co-authors for being recognized as having one of the most-cited papers in The Milbank Quarterly. The publication, "Patient Identification of Diagnostic Safety Blindspots and Participation in 'Good Catches' Through Shared Visit Notes," highlights how patients and families can identify clinically relevant errors, including “blindspots”—safety hazards that are difficult for clinicians or organizations to see.
