INTRODUCTION TO WATER STONES by LYNN PATRICK

INTRODUCTION TO WATER STONES

Award-winning songwriter, composer, instrumental guitarist, and producer Lynn Patrick creates a distinctive contemporary instrumental sound, blending the melodic influences of folk, jazz, country, and bluegrass with the contemplative qualities of New Age.

Based in Boulder, Colorado, Patrick has released seven albums. Water Stones is a mostly all-string collection featuring guitar, mandolin, violin, bass, and percussion, with music that ranges from bright, playful compositions to more introspective moments. Created after a period of profound life challenges, the album reflects resilience, gratitude, and a renewed appreciation for life, ultimately celebrating joy and transformation.

Patrick describes it simply: “I wrote these songs to feel better…to create something that brought more joy and beauty into the world.” Water Stones was mastered by GRAMMY®-winning mastering engineer Michael Romanowski.

Patrick is the 2025–2026 Indie Acoustic Project Award winner for Best Instrumental Album for Water Stones and a two-time Independent Music Award winner for Best New Age Song. Her music has surpassed 20 million streams on Pandora, while the title track “Water Stones” is heard regularly on SiriusXM’s Spa and CBS’s The Young and the Restless. In Australia, “Surfing Lu Lu” has been featured on SoundsLikeCafe’s playlist since February.

ALBUM REVIEWS

“On the infectiously engaging, beautifully crafted Water Stones, Lynn Patrick takes us on an intimate, intensely personal, soul-transformative journey. Patrick is such a master at creating her ‘optimistic acoustic’ fusion of folk, jazz, country and bluegrass that she has practically created her own genre.”

—Jonathan Widran, The JW Vibe / Billboard Contributor

“Water Stones is one of those albums that made me smile, even grin like a kid, the first time I played it… enlivens my senses, jogs my memory, and injects some happiness and joy in my day whenever I play it.”

—Bill Binkelman, Wind and Wire & Zone Music Reporter

“Water Stones offers a listening experience that feels intimate and expansive, personal yet universal. While it can be filed under New Age or contemporary instrumental folk, such labels only partially capture its scope. Lynn Patrick’s guitar work remains the central voice, expressive and lyrical.”

—New Music Alert
