One of the key steps to deliver the New Aloha Stadium Entertainment District (NASED) is the relocation of the Swap Meet & Marketplace to a new location on site. This is critical to enable construction of the new Aloha Stadium and demolition of the existing one. We are pleased to announce that, in mid-March, construction for the temporary Swap Meet & Marketplace location in the Upper Hālawa Lot began, with anticipated completion in summer 2025. Upon completion, vendors will move shortly thereafter to the new location. For the latest updates visit the stadium's website, alohastadium.hawaii.gov.
The state project team and Aloha Halawa District Partners (AHDP) continue to work on a range of diligence, technical and other matters during this current phase of the procurement process. The expectation is that the state and AHDP will execute a range of agreements by June 2025.
The NASED procurement process remains active. Further details of AHDP’s proposal will continue to be made public through community outreach activities that began during the diligence and discussion phase.
Businesses or organizations that would like to register their interest with AHDP may submit their contact information on the “Doing Business” page on the project website: https://nased.hawaii.gov/doing-business/

FAQs – Community Q&A
At last month's AHDP Community Meeting, attendees were encouraged to submit written questions and comments for AHDP and the state to address in real time. Here's one from Councilmember Radiant Cordero on parking and traffic:
Q: The design and land uses proposed by NASED differs from our current neighborhood. How does NASED plan to integrate the new design to ensure seamless connectivity rather than shifting current communities out?
A: The state expects that portions of initial phases of development will be completed in conjunction with the opening of the new Aloha Stadium. As part of its RFP response, AHDP proposed a conceptual site plan depicting a variety of uses, such as residential, retail, hospitality and an entertainment zone. The conceptual site plan also includes preliminary ideas for site circulation and access that will enable successful integration with the new Aloha Stadium, including a pedestrian connection with the new Skyline station. This conceptual site plan forms the basis of community engagement sessions that commenced in early 2025.
