Last month marked a major milestone for the project with the execution of the first two agreements with Aloha Hālawa District Partners (AHDP): the Stadium Development and Operation Agreement and the Initial Ground Lease. These agreements officially authorize dismantling of the existing stadium and the start of construction on the new, modern facility.
In the coming months, site mobilization activities will begin. This includes setting up fencing and site offices, internal abatement work, and securing/disconnecting on-site utilities. Be on the lookout for visual dismantling of the existing stadium scheduled to start in early 2026.
Meanwhile, this month’s focus is on finalizing the remaining agreements related to the real estate parts of the project. We’re pleased to report that substantial progress has been made, with only a handful of issues left to resolve.
It’s important to note that timing of these real estate-related agreements will not affect the timeline of the new stadium’s delivery or opening schedule. Once finalized, the NASED team will release a public update outlining key deal points, including AHDP's expected deliverables and deadlines.

FAQs
Q: How will dismantling of the existing stadium take place?
A: Dismantling of the existing stadium will be done in phases, starting with mobilization and removal of non-structural materials. Then all steel superstructure and elements above grade that the steel superstructure supports will be removed by cutting and picking with high-reach machinery for recycling or disposal. No pyrotechnical implosion will be used. All elements of the existing stadium scheduled for dismantling will be complete by mid-2026, clearing the way for construction to start.

Community Voices: Honoring Carole Kai - A Legacy of Aloha and Community
As she steps into retirement, we celebrate Carole Kai Onouye — entertainer, philanthropist, and co-founder of the Great Aloha Run, whose vision and generosity have touched generations across Hawai‘i.
In 1985, Carole co-created the Great Aloha Run, an 8.15-mile community event from Aloha Tower to Aloha Stadium. What began as a single race grew into one of Hawai‘i’s most beloved traditions, welcoming thousands of runners, walkers, military teams, and families each year.
Over four decades, the event raised nearly $20 million for local charities and nonprofits, all driven by Carole’s belief in “Ke kukini me ke aloha pau‘ole” — the race with compassionate love. Her tireless energy and heart for giving transformed a sporting event into a symbol of unity, health, and aloha.
While the 2025 Great Aloha Run marked its final year, Carole’s legacy continues through every life touched and every community strengthened by her work.
Mahalo, Carole, for reminding us that the greatest finish line is the one we cross together — with Aloha.
On behalf of the NASED team, we'd also like to wish Carole Hauʻoli Lā Hānau for her birthday this week!
