Have you ever seen construction activity around Austin but had no idea what was being built or by which contractor? Of course you have!
Have you then tried to navigate the City's online permit database for more information and found only frustration because you don't have the correct address or correct street name for the project? Of course you have!
At the Austin AGC we've long been frustrated by the City's clunky online permit portal, so that's why we developed the new
BuildItPermits app.
Now when you see a building construction project in town and want to know more details, just pull up the app. You'll quickly see a map of Austin showing every building permit issued in town within the last twelve months. That's a lot of permits, of course!
Simply zoom in on the map to the exact location of the project you're seeking more information about. Tap on the corresponding pin(s) and in just a few seconds you'll have details about that project right in the palm of your hand.
Want to see the actual building permit files with all the project details? Scroll down to the bottom of the page, click on the External Link and you'll be connected directly to all the project documents on file and publicly available in the City's permitting database. Easy! You can even limit searches by date range and mechanical, electrical and plumbing permits. This app is great for Austin AGC members who want to know more about what is being built around town, and especially for those firms seeking leads for potential clients.

Need more usernames for your team? Additional users can be added for only $10 each per month, or $100 for annual access. That's a big discount off standard pricing of $49 per month or $588 annually.
As you try the app, keep in mind that search ability is limited to only building projects that have been permitted within the last 12 months. That being the case, some larger, multi-year projects underway may not populate as they were permitted more than a year ago. We did this in order to ensure the app can work quickly when you open it. Also, the app pulls building permits for both commercial and residential projects.
