Homes, Partnerships & Holiday Cheer: December at Berthoud Habitat

Application Cycle Opening Soon

We are excited to share that Berthoud Habitat for Humanity will open our homeownership application cycle from January 1 through February 28, 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals and families interested in pursuing safe, stable, and affordable homeownership in Berthoud.

Eligible applicants are encouraged to learn more about the process, review qualification guidelines, and submit their application during this window. We look forward to walking alongside future partner families as they take this important step toward building a brighter future.

More Than a Cup of Coffee: Amanda’s Joyful Impact on Berthoud

For many in Berthoud, Joyful Brews is more than a stop for morning coffee — it’s a place where memories are made, friendships grow, and community connects. For owner Amanda, this is exactly what makes Berthoud feel like home.

“I have loved being able to grow up in this community while being a part of so many people’s days,” Amanda shared. “I’ve watched families grow, kids turn into employees, customers turn into lifelong friendships. Even though what I do feels like such a small thing, it carries an impact on not just me, but the people and community I serve. It's about so much more than a cup of coffee.”

That deep sense of connection is what inspired Amanda to take ownership of Joyful Brews. While finishing her elementary education degree, she found herself falling in love with running the shop alongside her mom. When her mom mentioned potentially selling, Amanda felt clarity unlike anything she’d experienced before. “My soul screamed at me that I had to buy it,” she said. “I have never once regretted my decision.”

Running a small business in Berthoud has reaffirmed that choice every day. “The overwhelming support of the community,” she said, is her favorite part of being a local business owner. “We love to shop small, and because of that, we are still here!”

This December, Amanda has a favorite drink she can’t stop recommending: Santa’s Side Piece, a sugar cookie–flavored cold brew. “It’s so good,” she said, “and so funny to order out loud!”

Amanda’s support of Berthoud Habitat for Colorado Gives Day comes from a place of genuine understanding and compassion. “Habitat is an incredible organization, and I have always loved what they do,” she shared.

“I’ve had employees become homeowners because of this program, and I see the way it empowers people and helps families.”

As a former young, single mother, Amanda feels deeply connected to the impact that safe, affordable housing can have. “Anything that I can do to help someone in our community is a no brainer.”

Her hope for this partnership is simple but powerful: to help move one more family closer to home. “If all this does is raise enough for the doorknobs of a home, that's enough for me. I just want to help empower in any way I can.”

When it comes to giving back, Amanda wants the community to know that Joyful Brews is committed to investing locally. “We are a small business built on nothing but a dream to do good in our community,” she said. “I employ local residents, I spend my money in this community, and I will work hard to always help our community thrive. We will always invest back into Berthoud.”

As we close out 2025, Amanda’s message to the community is one of gratitude:

“Thank you for your endless support — whether it be by being a customer, leaving a review, recommending us to a friend. You are what makes this place great, and without you, we wouldn't be here.”

Looking ahead to 2026, Amanda is hopeful for growth, connection, and continued resilience — both for Joyful Brews and for Berthoud families. With their lease expiring in May, Joyful Brews is actively seeking a new location within Berthoud.

“Our biggest hope is to build or find a location that can help us serve you more, in a better way, with just as much joy — if not more — than ever before.”

Our 2026 Partnership Guide

We are excited to announce the launch of our 2026 Partnership Guide, created to help local businesses, organizations, and community members join us in building strength, stability, and opportunity through affordable homeownership.

The guide outlines a range of sponsorship and partnership opportunities — from event support to build days and mission investments — allowing partners to engage in ways that align with their values and goals.

We invite you to explore how your business can make a lasting impact in Berthoud in 2026.

Construction Updates

We are excited to share a special milestone from our construction team and community: Abraham and Teresa’s home is officially complete, closed, and filled with warmth just in time for the holidays.

On December 6th, we gathered with their family, friends, volunteers, and supporters for a heartfelt House Blessing — a tradition that honors not just the building of a house, but the beginning of a new chapter. It was a beautiful moment of celebration, gratitude, and hope.

Thank you for helping us build not only houses, but stability, dignity, and opportunity. More construction updates to come as we gear up for an exciting year of progress ahead!

We’ll see you in the new year — with more updates, more homes, and even greater community impact. Together, we are building so much more than walls; we are building hope.
