Reflection from Fr. Joseph
Two things have converged recently at our parish which have resulted in one new event that will be added to our parish calendar soon.
First of all, many people have told me how much they would love to have a Sunday evening Mass. Every week I hear of our parishioners who were busy on Sunday mornings and who attended an evening Mass at St. Rose or St. Lawrence. With two priests at St. Jude’s, there’s no reason why we couldn’t have a Sunday evening Mass for the convenience of our parishioners.
Second, after our annual Advent Candlelight Mass, many people came forward and asked if we could do that more frequently – a hushed and reverent Mass with chant, candles, and ad-orientam (facing the East, awaiting the coming of Christ).
After speaking about it with Parish Council, we decided to start a once/month Sunday evening Solemn High Mass on the Fourth Sunday of every month, starting February 22, at 5:30pm. We have it scheduled from Feb-May and we will reevaluate after May to see if attendance has been good and if we should continue it in the Fall. We could even potentially add an every Sunday 5:30pm Mass in the Fall if the attendance warrants it. So, we’ll see how it goes and whether there is a legitimate need in our community.
Yet another way to encounter Christ here at St. Jude’s!

Inclement Weather Policy
As the weather turns colder and snowier, please take note of the Inclement Weather Policy for St. Jude's Parish:
Weekday Mass is cancelled if Monroe public schools are cancelled (the Mass will be said and the intention will be prayed for, but privately). If school is on a 2-hour delay, Mass is as usual.
Saturday Vigil/Sunday Mass are never cancelled.
Religious Education on Wednesdays are cancelled if Monroe Public Schools are closed OR if the will have no after-school activities.
Religious Education on Sundays - please check your email. We will make the determination by 8am that day.
All other evening meetings, events, and groups - please contact the leader of your group/event to see if it will still meet. Do not contact the parish office.

We are once again looking for parish youth (school age through high school) to serve as actors, readers and members of the stage crew for the Living Stations of the Cross. Participation is a great way for young people to grow closer to Jesus as we prepare to lead the parish in prayer on Good Friday. Rehearsals will be on five Sunday evenings in March. Fill out this form by Feb. 22 if you wish to participate, or email Pete at peter.j.blair@gmail.com with any questions.
