New Beginnings On Familiar Ground
Greetings again! For those who may not remember me, I'm Shane, and I previously helped put together these newsletters for my grandmother, Phyllis. I'll be stepping back in for the interim, while Secretary Carisa focuses on her treatments and recovery. Please keep her and her family in your prayers!
We have some exciting news to share! Phyllis was recently contacted by a man named Yusuf Buhari, who has offered 2.5 hectares of land, on which to build a school near the town of Azare, in Bauchi State! While we won't be able to begin construction until late next year, Yusuf is thrilled and has expressed he is more than willing to wait.
This opportunity is especially meaningful due to its location being in very close proximity to Garbagal grazing reserve in Jigawa, where a number of years ago we built a school. We had hired teachers, and were ready to begin enrollment, when a frustrated government teacher reported to the Ministry of Education that we'd opened a church there, not a school. We were then required to leave the reserve.
Now that we may be building a school so close by in Azare, could God be opening another door to return to the work we were once forced to abandon? We feel strongly drawn to contact the Jigawa Ministry of Education to explore the possibility of picking up where we'd left off all those years ago! Our prayer is that, if it is God's will, we may once again have the opportunity to serve the Fulani children on the Garbagal reserve!
