Good Morning -

We hope your Thursday is off to a great start! The Recycling Center will be re-opened today starting at 9:00 am. Please read below for details on how the center will operate. You'll find a special "thank you" in this edition of New Berlin Notes to all those who helped us put on a successful Spring Election. If you haven't filled out the 2020 Census yet, there is still time! Remember you can reply to the Census online, by phone or by mail. Stay safe and please continue to practice social distancing.
After receiving further clarification from the Governor’s Office, the City of New Berlin will be re-opening our Recycling Center effective today Thursday, April 16, 2020 . Hours for today are 9 am – 7 pm.

Summer hours for the recycling center are now in effect, which means the center will be open:
Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 am – 7 pm
Saturdays 8 am – 4 pm
Please note that the Tuesday & Thursday hours have been expanded slightly from last year, and the Recycling Center will be opening now at 9 am on
those days.

Residents should expect longer wait times since the City will be limiting the number of cars entering the Recycling Center. Social Distancing must be practiced. We ask residents for their cooperation and respect for our employees and others. Residents are encouraged to wear masks. The Recycling Center is open to only New Berlin residents and Drivers Licenses will be checked.  Should the City find that the proper social distancing is not being practiced by our residents, the City will reconsider its’ decision to reopen. The Safety of our residents and employees is our utmost priority.
The City Clerk’s Office would like to thank the poll workers, city staff and community for assisting in successful election. Considering the consistent flow of changing legislation, our community was able to adapt and ensure that our Departments goal was carried out – to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and protect the health and safety of our voters and staff.

Through the dedication of our poll workers, the City of Berlin was pleased to be one of the few communities to keep all of our polling locations open. As your City Clerk, I am proud to serve a community with such dedication.

By Election Day the City had received 11,530 of the 12, 969 absentee ballots that were mailed out. That was 42% processed and 46% of our total participation. Our live polling locations saw an additional 11% of New Berlin’s registered voters on Election Day.

Following Election Day – staff processed an additional 300+ ballots that met the courts criteria to be counted.

These are just a few of the statistics from a noteworthy election.

Once again – I wanted to say thank you – the outpour of the support from our community is astounding.
