The Season of Change
With leaves changing from green to red and temperatures shifting from warm to cool, it's no wonder autumn is considered the season of change. In this edition of New Berlin Notes, we proudly announce the winner of the 2021 John Bauer Employee of the Year Award, our Landmarks Commission dares you to take a virtual tour of our "haunted" City, we invite you to join us for the Lions Park grand re-opening and we have an important message from our Mayor Dave Ament. Embrace the season of change and venture outdoors to view the vibrant autumn colors sprinkled throughout our wonderFALL City!
Congratulations to Alan Skornia, recipient of the
24th Annual John W. Bauer Award for Municipal Excellence
On 9/23, Council President Ken Harenda presented Alan Skornia with the Award for Municipal Excellence. Alan has served the City for over 8 years and is the Information Technology Manager.

Mayor Ament had these kind words to share, “Alan is always happy to assist staff with a smile, even when he is being pulled in many different directions. He is an exemplary employee and is most deserving of this coveted award.”
New Berlin to Change Waste Hauler
On 9/28, the Common Council unanimously approved to terminate the Waste Management contract for residential waste hauling services effective 12/31/2021.  This was a mutually agreed upon termination between both parties. WM has agreed to utilize its best efforts to meet performance standards as set forth in the agreement for the balance of the contract. Additionally, Council unanimously agreed to contract with Johns Disposal Service for the City’s residential garbage & recycling pickup for 2022. We will communicate the transition process in the near future.
