We hope your new year is off to a great start! We are just a couple of days away from the biggest celebration of the winter season, the 2nd annual Winter Fest! We hope you take a look at the Winterfest schedule and get a chance to make it out to Malone Park and the City Center Plaza this Saturday for a full day of winter fun. In this edition of New Berlin Notes, we cover how to register for the New Berlin Community Blood Drive, how to test for radon gas in your home, discard your Christmas tree and so much more. Waukesha County Encourages Residents
to Test for Dangerous Radon Gas
Waukesha County health officials encourage homeowners to test for radon gas during National Radon Action Month in January. Thousands of homes in southeast Wisconsin have elevated levels of radon and radon exposure is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind cigarette smoking.
Register to donate blood at the City of New Berlin's Community Blood Drive on January 14th from 7am to 11am at City Hall. Click the below link to make an appointment or contact Melody for assistance.
2021 Burn Permits Now Available!
Burning permits are required in the City of New Berlin. Permits are good from January 1st - December 31st, and can be purchased for $8 at the Clerk's Office at City Hall or the Library. Due to Covid-19, please consider purchasing this permit by MAIL or using the City Hall payment drop box. Include payment and a self-addressed envelope and we will mail the permit back to you.
Keep Fire Hydrants Clear of Snow
Firefighters and Emergency Personnel need your assistance. If there is a fire hydrant near your house, please help keep it accessible this winter. In case of fire, firefighters and emergency personnel need to be able to get to the hydrants quickly to protect people and property. We thank you for your help.
The Streets Department will start picking up Christmas trees the first week of January depending on the weather, snow depth, and plowing schedules and will continue throughout the month. Please place your Christmas tree near the end of the driveway where it is visible for drivers, but not an obstruction in the roadway for traffic or plowing. Christmas trees can also be taken to the Recycling Center. If you have further questions, please contact the Streets Department at (262) 780-4609.
Attention New Homeowners:
Welcome to the City of New Berlin! Stop by City Hall to obtain a “New Resident Packet” for information on burning regulations, the library, parking restrictions, recreation programming, voting information, the recycling center, community groups and much more.
