Dear Community Partners,
New resources on the NC Innovations waiver are now available! A toolkit has been launched to help share information about these services with individuals and families in your community. Free, printed flyers and brochures are also available to order.
The NC Innovations waiver is for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD) or a related condition, including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, traumatic brain injury (if the injury occurred before age 22) and more. This program is for people who need a lot of support, now and in the future. People in this program have needs similar to people in an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF-IID). Anyone can apply for the NC Innovations waiver, regardless of age, insurance or income.
The NC Innovations waiver covers home and community-based services like:
- Help with daily activities
- Day programs
- Assistive technology
- Job coaching
- And more
Caregiver support is also available to provide scheduled breaks, advice and training on how to care for someone living with I/DD. Plus, with NC Medicaid, people can also get health and dental coverage and rides to appointments.
It is important for people to apply for the NC Innovations waiver as soon as possible, as it can take years before a spot becomes available. Individuals and families can apply for the NC Innovations waiver through their Local Management Entity/Managed Care Organization (LME/MCO). Please share these accessible resources to help your community get the answers they need.
The NC Innovations waiver toolkit is available in English and Spanish, and includes:
