Plainfield Slim is the Blues alter ego of singer/songwriter Gar Francis.
Under the Gar Francis name, there is Plainfield Slim & The Groundhawgs, a band that plays a raw, hypnotic, Mississippi-style juke joint blues.
The Groundhawgs' band members include Lee Fink on slide guitar, Myke Scavone on harp, Mike Caruso on bass, and Rocco Scavone on drums.
In 2009 Plainfield Slim & The Groundhawgs released the CD “When The Devil Hits Home” following global success from Plainfield Slim's first album, “Another Mule In The Barn” (2008).
Songs such as “Dirty Girl,” “Moan,” “Hideout,” “Marlene,” and “Sweet Jesus” have received airplay internationally and in the US.
Both physical CDs are available on Bongo Boy Records and are streaming on platforms like Spotify, AppleMusic and others.
As a band, their performances included participation in events such as the Washington Music & Art Festival and the Centenary Mini Blues Festival, where they opened for Peter Tork. They have also played at various venues including Mexicali Live in Teaneck, NJ, Crossroads in Garwood, NJ, Kenny’s Castaways in NY, Maxwells in Hoboken, NJ, Warren County Fair Grounds, Harmony, NJ, The Record Collector in Bordentown, NJ. and many more.
