2018 Board of Directors Election Results

Thank you, members, for your recent participation in the 2018 Board of Directors Elections. We are pleased to announce that Christine Warnock of Washington has been elected the 2018 President-Elect and that the following members have been elected as Directors at Large: Lisa Eason, Georgia; Cindy Lombardi, Colorado; Kelly Sanders, Ohio and Jason Soza, Alaska

These newly elected members will take office in January 2018, alongside 2018 President Michael Jones of Alabama, Immediate Past President Larry Maxwell of New Mexico and the other returning Directors at Large: Bob Gleason, Maryland; Betsy Hayes, Minnesota; Sarah Hilderbrand, Idaho and Rosalyn Ingram, Florida. These individuals bring a wealth of experience and knowledge, and will be a tremendous asset in furthering the mission of the association. 
NASPO's 2016-2017 Report to Members

During the 2016-2017 program year, NASPO continued to support the professional development and education of our members through enhanced learning opportunities, including the first-ever Academic Forum. The 2016-2017 Report to Members serves as an update on the state of NASPO and details some of the advancements made during the program year toward the goals outlined in the strategic plan, which is set forth by the NASPO Board of Directors.

New Resources Released
State IT Procurement Negotiations: Working Together to Reform and Transform

NASPO and NASCIO are proud to release a joint roadmap for state information technology (IT) procurement reform and process transformation. This publication includes 18 joint recommendations for IT procurement in the following categories: relationship building, procurement processes, centralization, and legislation and policy. The paper also includes key takeaways from the survey of CPOs and CIOs conducted this year, in-depth discussion of the work of the NASPO-NASCIO Joint Task Force on Negotiation in IT procurement, case studies from Alabama and Minnesota emphasizing the importance of CPO/CIO relationship is to successful IT procurement, and implementation methods that complement the recommendations.

Tech Next: Internet of Things (IoT) explores ways in which IoT can be used in the public sector, how Illinois navigated the RFP process, and includes a checklist of IoT-specific considerations for the public procurement professional. Learn More About Our Pilot Internship Program
On September 19th, NASPO hosted a webinar recapoing the summer 2017 pilot internship program. Interns and their supervisors from our pilot states, Utah, Idaho and Massachusetts, shared their experience from this program, as well as tips for a successful program. The timeline and process for the summer 2018 NASPO internship process was explained for the webinar participants. NASPO's Internship Toolkit was also disseminated to all Chief Procurement Officials to use as a resource in preparing internship programs in their states.

Dates to Remember for  2018 Summer Internship Program:
October 2:  Applications to host an intern open online* (link sent via email to CPOs)
October 17: Online applications close and eight internship states are announced

*CPO must have sent signed letter back via email to Procurement U before application can be completed online.
