Public Safety a Priority

Woodland Park and Ashford Willow Falls Recertify as Blue Star Communities

Congratulations to Woodland Park Apartments and Ashford Willow Falls, both of which were recently recertified as Blue Star properties by the Houston Police Department.

Woodland Park, located at 2700 Woodland Park Drive, is managed by Greystar and Ashford Willow Falls, located at 10100 Westpark Drive, is owned and managed by Ashford Communities.

The Blue Star Multi-Housing Program is a proactive program designed to reduce the potential for crime and to raise awareness in apartment managers, owners and residents. It is operated jointly by HPD and the Houston Apartment Association.

In order to be certified, the apartment community manager must complete an eight-hour training class that focuses on tenant screening, best practices and CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design). HPD officers then perform a CPTED survey of the property, looking at lighting, perimeter fencing, landscaping, onsite security and tenant screening procedures. Once the survey is complete and any deficiencies addressed, the community hosts a safety social for residents to inform them of the new screening requirements and the community’s commitment to providing a safe environment for residents and guests.

The Blue Star designation means that the apartment community has successfully completed all three phases of the program and has met the standards for certification. There are 15 Blue Star certified communities in Westchase District. You can view the entire list on our website.
