New Board of Education sworn into office

At the May 2 Barrington 220 Board of Education meeting, the new Board was sworn into office. New Board member Diana Clopton, along with re-elected Board members Barry Altshuler and Leah Collister-Lazzari, will all serve four-year terms on the Board.


Clopton and her husband moved to the Barrington area in 2011. They have two children who attend Prairie Campus and Station Campus. She holds a bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of Illinois At Urbana-Champaign and a MBA from Northwestern University. New Board officers selected

At the May 2 Board meeting, the Board voted on its new officers. Board members selected Sandra Ficke-Bradford to continue serving as Board President. Ficke-Bradford has been on the Board since 2009, previously serving as Vice President and Secretary. Barry Altshuler will serve as the new Vice President and Katie Karam will serve as the new Secretary. Altshuler was elected to the Board in 2019 and previously served as Board Secretary. Board approves second School Resource Officer for middle school level

At the May 2 Board meeting, the Board approved the hiring of a second Barrington Police Officer to work as a School Resource Officer (SRO) at the middle school level. This means there will be a full-time SRO at both Prairie Campus and Station Campus. Having a dedicated SRO at each building will not only enhance safety measures at both campuses, it is also part of the district's ongoing efforts to create environments where students feel supported socially and emotionally. The district also currently has a dedicated SRO at Barrington High School.

Staff Appreciation Week May 8-12

In his Superintendent's Report at the May 2 Board meeting, Dr. Craig Winkelman shared that May 8-12 is Staff Appreciation Week. "I think we have one of the finest staff in the state of Illinois and the nation," Dr. Winkelman shared. "I know everyone is busy, but if you have a free moment, I highly encourage our community to thank our staff members who work incredibly hard."
