Daylight Savings Ending Saturday, November 5th

Don't forget to set your clocks back an hour this weekend! Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5. This is also a good time to switch out smoke detector batteries.

Trail of Treats Recap

On Saturday, the City hosted Trail of Treats. Despite some inclement weather, the event had a great turnout! Thank you to parks, public works, police, and fire for making these events happen for our city!

Congrats Sergeant Stewart!

We would like to congratulate Sergeant Steven Stewart on his graduation from the prestigious International Law Enforcement Administration School of Police Supervision. The Forney Police Department is proud of his achievement. This accomplishment is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our community. Attention: Sewer Maintenance

Over the next few months, our city will undergo essential sewer maintenance. To keep you informed, we want to share the following details:

-Contractors will be performing sewer maintenance around the city.

-Contractors will place door hangers if your residence is among those temporarily affected.

-These door hangers will clearly state the scheduled work date and time and offer a contact for any questions.

We understand that this maintenance may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation during this essential process.

Forney Turkey Drive

The Forney Chamber of Commerce and Forney Education Foundation have teamed up for a special turkey drive. For $25 you can gift a local family in need with a holiday meal! 100% of all funds collected will directly contribute to their mission of providing 250 Forney families with the joy of a holiday feast. Downtown Tree Lighting Ceremony Nov. 30th

Help us get into the Christmas spirit at 6 p.m. on Saturday November 30th at Bell Park in Downtown Forney! Join us for our annual tree lighting ceremony! The Christmas tree located in Bell Park is gorgeous and you don’t want to miss its inaugural lighting. There will be Christmas carols sung by Forney ISD choirs, free hot chocolate and a special appearance by jolly ol’ St. Nick!

Turkey Crafts Nov. 21st

Forney Parks and Recreation is hosting its second Thanksgiving themed arts and crafts activity. This FREE event will be at Forney Community Park Pavilion (pavilion by the playground) in Community Park on Tuesday, November 21st at 9-11 A.M. No Registration will be required!

Community & Business Update Meeting

Are you curious about development projects in Forney? EDC Director Lynn Spencer will be hosting "Ask THE EDC" on Tuesday, Nov. 14th! This meeting can be attended in person or online. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Forney Economic Development.

City Charter Amendment Election

On August 15, 2023, Forney City Council approved Ordinance No. 23-21, ordering a Special Election to be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, for the purpose of making several charter amendments. The city charter is the fundamental governing document for the city and outlines certain authorities and restrictions the city has over municipal affairs.

The proposed amendments include adding term limits, changing from 2 to 3-year terms, amending staggered terms, adding special elections for certain vacancies, changing signature limits on a recall petition, and changing the mayoral vote to a tie-breaking vote only.



The Forney City Council invites all residents to participate in the process of shaping the City's future by voting on these proposed amendments in the November election.
